How to install a wall mount cast iron sink

Tools you need:

• A measuring tape
• Level
• Screwdriver
• Stud locator/stud finder
• Drill machine
• Anchor/lag bolts
• Socket wrench 

Step 1. Marking the height for mounting braces

Note: Wall mount iron cast sinks lean on the studs at the back of the finish wall. Locate them by knocking till you hear a solid sound or use a stud locator. If the studs don’t match your mounting height use some wood blocking. In case of doubts consult a professional.

The first step of wall mount sink installation is deciding and marking the height. Place the mounting brackets and make pencil marks through the holes in each bracket. Make sure to place the brackets in line with the studs before marking. 

Step 2. Drilling the mounting holes

Once you mark the mounting marks, drill them carefully.

Note: For tiled wall use a masonry drill bit.

When the drilling completes, place the mounting brackets and secure them using anchor bolts.

After securing the first bolt verify the bracket’s level using a level. Keep checking while securing all the bolts.

Tip: If you don’t have a masonry drill bit. You can try putting some tape at the drilling location. Take a hammer and a nail and make two marks. 

Marking holes with a nail results in accurate drill hole and also keeps the drill bit from sliding. When done, use a drill machine to drill these holes.

Step 3. Fitting the faucet and the drain on the sink 

Make sure you fit the drain and faucet before you attach the sink to the wall. These are easy to install. You can hold or place the sink in a comfortable position for attaching the necessary parts. Attach the faucet and tighten all the screws. 

Similarly, attach and secure the drains on the sink. Consult the instructions manual for correct fittings.

Step 4. Supporting the sink

This step of the installation requires an extra pair hands. Balance the sink against the wall. Ask someone to hold the sink against the wall and level it using a leveler. 

When you get the perfect level insert and tighten the lag bolts on each side. Use a socket wrench for tightening the bolts.

Make sure you keep checking the level while you attach wall mount cast iron sink to the wall. 

Note: Don’t overtight the bolts it may cause cracking.

Step 5. Securing the drain pipe

The drain pipe is different for every wall mount sink. It is a thick metallic pipe which further connects to a pee trap. Push the metallic drain pipe in the drilled drain hole (in the wall) and screw it in place. You can use a wrench for securing it. 

In most cases you will find a covering rim which hides the drill and the in-screwed pipe. 

Once the p-trap fits with the drain pipe attach the vertical pipe (which is slightly longer) to the faucet pipe.

Note: This step gives a general idea of most drain pipes. Follow the instructions in the provided manual for accurate installation(as each product has its customizations).

Step 6. Fitting the suppliers

Screw the suppliers on the supplier pipes sticking out of the wall. Screwing the suppliers is the last part of the wall mount kitchen sink installation. 

Turn on the water to check the connections for leakage.

How to Install a Wall Mount Kitchen Sink with Drainboard?

This section of the article will guide you about installing a wall mount kitchen sink with a drain board.

• First install the braces. Make a pencil mark on the wall at the point of your desired height. Place the brace such that the upper edge of the rim is on the pencil line. Using a level ensure the brace is completely leveled.
• Make pencil marks of each hole for both braces. Use a drill to drill the holes and screw in the braces.
• Fit in the sink such that it sits perfectly with the braces. Next there are two options.
• Most wall mount kitchen sinks have floor standing support braces. While in others use wall drilled ones.
• For support legs, screw the legs in the cavity underneath the sink and fix them on the floor. Use some epoxy (if needed)to fix them on the floor.
• For wall drilled braces there is a fitting under the sink. After drilling and screwing the braces in the wall place the sink on them and screw it. 
• Lastly, install the faucet and supply pipes.
