Ever have that total oh-my-gosh moment when you realize you have company coming over and didn’t prepare a snack to go with the coffee, tea or bottle of wine? I may have found a solution with John Wm. Macy’s CheeseCrips, CheeseSticks and SweetSticks. The only problem is my family keeps eating these before the company arrives!
In case you haven’t heard of John Wm. Macy’s most excellent creation, here’s the scoop. He started out baking out of his kitchen and selling CheeseSticks at county fairs and festivals in California. He eventually moved to New York and hit the big time. He currently has sixty employees in New Jersey that do all the baking! Once you taste his snack you’ll understand why.
The Original Cheddar CheeseStick is made from multiple layers of sourdough and cheese and then twisting it together before baking. They have an authentic cheddar flavor and a very satisfying crunch. The CheeseCrips were created as a bar snack for New York’s Grand Hyatt and are also excellent.

The SweetSticks are great with morning coffee. You can’t beat the flavor of the Madagascar Vanilla SweetSticks. I loved them straight out of the package but for a real treat heat them up just a bit. Absolutely heavenly! My kids love the SweetSticks so much I was able to use them as incentives for extra chores!
I’ve tried to nail it down to a favorite flavor but the best I can do is a tie for first between the Smoked Jalapeno and Original Cheddar. John Wm. Macy puts out a wine pairing guide but I found both of these to be stellar with a glass of Shiraz.
One thing I really appreciate is these are made from “natural ingredients – no artificial flavoring, coloring or preservatives”. So I feel okay when my kids are scarfing these down.
