When the box for the Joovy Big Caboose arrived on our porch, I thought it had to be a mistake – were there two strollers in there? (Well, kind of, yes). This stroller is monstrously huge. It holds three full size kids, so yes, it’s huge. If anyone lists this as a con in any review you’ve read, you can just overlook it because it holds three full size kids! It was so easy to assemble right out of the box, although we did have to take the (large, full coverage, removable) canopies off and put them back on correctly but that was just user error all the way!
The fabric is nice and thick, the padding is really swank, and the styling is nice. We installed the snack trays instead of the car seat adapters since our twins are sitting with support. The harnesses and straps are very nice and sturdy with reflective edging for night time walks. The recline function was really unique and extremely easy to flip the metal bar from a straight up sitting position to a recline with just one finger. Once the girls are using sippy cups independently, the cup holders will be super handy. I will take a moment to note that *most* popular strollers require you to purchase these snack trays and car seat adapters separately, so the Joovy is a great value from that fact alone!
I will admit to reading some Amazon reviews of the Big Caboose prior to receiving the stroller and read that some were disappointed in the rear seat not locking. I don’t know if Joovy fixed an oversight or the users were simply not looking in the right spot, but there are buttons underneath the rear seat to lock it in place. My toddler stood and held the comfortable foam covered handles and then sat on the seat and was able to buckle himself into the (3 point) harness. Granted, it’s not a huge seat, but the times he would be sitting on it would be short trips.
It’s narrow enough to fit through doorways while being manageable enough when you have some forward momentum. Because it is so long and heavy when weighed down with kids and stuff, it’s a little bulky to steer hard turns but otherwise a pleasurable, comfortable experience for the kids. There is no parent cupholder, but I don’t really know if there *can* be one due to the ability for the larger kid to stand there. It would be relatively easy and inexpensive to add a simple snap on parent cupholder. The basket underneath is large and accessible, another huge plus for large families with lots of stuff.
