So, you might know by now that our whole family are huge Disney fans! My almost one year old twins are just now getting into Mickey Mouse and it totally makes me smile. Because of our twins, we don’t often get to go out as much so we have started having weekly family movie nights at home. We usually always watch a Disney movie and try to have themed snacks or dinner with it. One of the movies we are eagerly anticipating to come out on Blu-ray is The Jungle Book! We are just days away from Walmart’s release of the Blu-Ray/Combo Pack Diamond Edition of Disney’s The Jungle Book! It will be available on February 11th and I’m already planning a fun-filled day of snacks to celebrate!
We love eating fruit, but in the off-season it can be hard to find a good variety that is also affordable. Walmart is our go-to place for all of the fruit that we love and you’ll find a huge selection!
My son is a really picky eater but I’m lucky that he enjoys fruit. I’m trying to get him to try different kinds of fruit so I thought a fun jungle themed fruit tray would be perfect to get him interested in new fruit, plus it’s fun to look at! Cutting everything up into small pieces allows my daughters to pick at it too. It’s also a great snack for play dates too!
The Jungle Book Themed Fresh Fruit Tray
Ingredients
– 2 Kiwis
– 2 Bananas
– 4 Halo or Cuties Oranges
– 2 pints of Blueberries
– Pineapple {Walmart sells fresh pineapple in a container!}
{Any other fruit that you want to make your scene! I really wanted to include strawberries but couldn’t figure out a way to include it!}
Directions
– Peel oranges and place them on the bottom of a large platter for sand.
– Place bananas on platter so it looks like they are coming out of the sand. Cut bananas into bite size pieces.
– On a cutting board, cut kiwi into shapes that look like palm tree leaves. You can leave the skin on and let your child {or you!} scoop it out when eating.
– Once the palm trees are arranged, place the pineapple circle at the top of the platter. With a knife, cut out pieces for the sun’s rays.
– Add in blueberries around the rest of the fruit, creating a bright blue sky!
– Serve and enjoy!
My son is bonkers for blueberries and bananas but I was excited to introduce him to the kiwi and pineapple. As he ate off the platter, he would exclaim that he was eating the palm leaves and the sun!
Another recipe that is perfect for mornings is an Apple Kiwi Kale Smoothie. I love blending up different kinds of fruit in fun ways for the whole family. I fell in love with an Apple Kiwi Kale Smoothie at a local smoothie place and I had to make it at home!
Apple Kiwi Kale Smoothie for Kids {And Adults, Too!}
Ingredients
– 1 Green Apple
– 1 Kiwi
– 1 Cup of Kale
– 1/2 Cup of Vanilla Almond Milk
After chopping up the kiwi and green apple, you’ll want to make sure you cut the kale away from the stem – you definitely won’t want that in your smoothie!
Directions
– Along with a 1/2 cup of ice, place kale, kiwi, green apple and vanilla almond milk into blender. Blend until smooth.
– Serve and enjoy!
These are just two delicious treats you can make next week when the Blu-Ray/Combo Pack Diamond Edition release of Disney’s The Jungle Book comes out at Walmart! It’s also the ONLY place where you’ll be able to receive a free Jungle Book Lunch Box with purchase of the Diamond Edition!
