I can hardly believe that Christmas is next week. If you’re like me, you still have lots of cooking and baking to do in the next week or so. As hectic as it can be, it’s actually one of my favorite parts of the whole season. I love getting into my kitchen with my son and baking up some goodies. This year, we have decided to create a treat that we will be able to give to friends, family and my son’s teachers and helpers at school!
We are huge fans of regular “Puppy Chow” but I decided this year to make them extra special since we were going to be giving them out as gifts!
Peppermint Holiday Mix
Ingredients
– 8 cups Rice Chex Cereal
– ½ cup Creamy Planters Peanut Butter
– ¼ cup butter (4 tablespoons)
– 1 cup powdered sugar
– 16 candy canes
– 1 cup Mint M&M’s
Directions
– Pour cereal in large mixing bowl and set aside. With food processor, mix together 1 cup powdered sugar and 8 candy canes. Mix until completely smooth. {If you have a child, let them take off the lid so they can see all the candy cane powder come out – my son thought it was so cool!}
– Place 8 candy canes in a ziplock bag and use rolling pin to crush into tiny pieces.
– In a microwave safe bow, mix together mint chocolate chips, Planters Peanut Butter and butter. Microwave every 30 seconds, stirring each time until completely mixed together and smooth. Pour mixture over the chex cereal and then quickly add the crushed candy canes from the ziplock bag. Stir until the cereal is completely covered.
– Add in bowl of powdered sugar and crushed candy canes and stir until everything is completely coated. Add in cup of Mint M&M’s and stir.
– Enjoy!
Oh, it’s so delicious and seriously addicting! We bought some jars and twine to wrap them up as gifts and we can’t wait to hand them out!
