Teaching your child to eat can be fun and exciting. But, it can also be frustrating. I remember when my son turned 4 months old and his pediatrician told us that we could start giving him rice cereal and then graduate to fruits and veggies about a month later. My husband and I were so excited and ran right out to buy cereal to start feeding him that very night. While at 4 months old he was a good eater, he did NOT grow up to be a good eater at all!
Getting our son {who is 5 years old now} to eat a variety of food has been a challenge. My husband and I have resorted to a lot of different tricks and even bribes to get him to eat. We have sang and danced for him, we have chanted “I love food!” for him. My husband has pulled an Adam Sandler from Big Daddy and hurt himself in an attempt to get our son to laugh and eat his food. We have told him that he will grow big strong muscles if he eats yummy, healthy food and we have also have snuck healthy food he normally wouldn’t try into food that he loves. Just recently, we have a reward chart that when he tries new food, he gets a sticker.
Hayden is a big fan of fruit so at a recent family gathering, I was so happy when he was trying a variety of new fruit that he hadn’t tried before. He knew that he would get a sticker for each new food he tried {which would add up to a new toy} so he was going around trying as much as he could. Stopping by a plate of what he thought were grapes, he picked up a handful and shoved them into his mouth not knowing that they were black olives! I’ve never seen a child spit out a food so fast. He was so upset but my husband and I were trying so hard not to laugh {are we mean?!} and the experience has turned him off on trying new food for a bit.
Stories From The Bright Side
Happy Family is a company that makes baby and toddler food that lovingly devotes a mother’s care to crafting premium, organic meals and snacks that nourish the most important parts of our lives: our families. They understand that feeding our little ones can be a challenge and we just have to look at the bright side of things!
I know that my husband and I can’t be the only parents who have experienced tantrums or food being thrown at us during meal time. We were recently cracking up and feeling not alone as we watched videos from top bloggers of their own disastrous feeding stories performed by the hilarious Upright Citizen’s Brigade. There’s at least one story that you’re going to be able to relate to as a parent. My favorite is Jim from Busy Dad Blog’s video!

Giving my boys spaghetti is always a funny experience but not because they don’t like it. They LOVE it and I’m not sure if more goes in their mouth or more goes on their body. It always makes me laugh.

Feeding my 2 year old is always comical. I love this campaign because if you don’t look at feeding issues as funny, they will drive you crazy!

I wish happy family would have been around when my kids were smaller, they would have loved it !

I had (still have) picky babies, it’s so hard to find the nutritional balance and something that tastes good!

My son is a good eater of fruit but not so much veggies so Happy Family line of products are a great idea

Those snacks look really good and healthy. My boys were both picky eaters with my youngest being the worst. Getting him to eat anything good for him was a major challenge all the time. He’s 23 years old now and still picky. He rarely steps out of his food comfort zone to try anything new which is a shame. He’s missing out on so much!

My grandson loves eating the HappyPuffs! I think if we’d let him, he would eat the entire can in one sitting!

LOL I can’t imagine that those black olives tasted so great. Hope he is back to trying new things soon. This contest sounds amazing, definitely going to enter!

You are totally telling the story of my 3 year old, we have tried all the same tricks you have tried. It is nice to know other people are going through the same thing and you not so crazy.

Happy Family has the BEST stuff!! I seriously couldn’t believe it when I gave one of the squeezy blended fruit/veggie pouch to my youngest son and he gobbled it up. Prior to that, he had spit out and thrown around everything else we’d tried to give him. To this day, that’s still his favorite (almost a year later).
I wish this had been around when my oldest was a baby! I can’t recommend these enough.
