I have a super fun and super easy Star Wars ornament for you to make with the kiddos. What Star Wars fan wouldn’t love a mini Death Star hanging on their tree decking the halls and looking out of this world? The best part is how easy it was to make it, some paint and a clear glass or plastic ornament are all that you need for your own Death Star Ornament. You can quickly make an entire fleet and gift them to all your nerdy Star Wars loving friends and family.
Death Star Ornament
Supplies needed
Clear plastic ornament
Silver paint
Dark Grey paint or paint pen
Directions
Pour a couple teaspoons of silver paint into the cavity of your ornament (after removing the cap/hanger).
Shake and roll the ornament to coat the inside completely, add more as needed until it is well covered. I cover the opening with a napkin and shake vigorously, this is the most fun part for kids!
Turn your ornament upside in a small disposable cup and allow excess paint to drain and dry for several hours, overnight is best if you can wait.
Carefully outline a circle to be your indention on the upper portion of the death star with black paint to define it (a black sharpie works well too) then fill it in with your dark grey/silver paint, I find it is really easier to use a paint pen to paint with, especially for kids.
Next draw random squares and rectangles around the ornament, peek at a copy of the Death Star online to get an idea of how it looks for inspiration.
Allow your paint to dry completely, replace your hook and hang on the tree.
We are so excited for the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story to come out. In case you haven’t heard about it, it’s about a team of rebels who set out to steal the plans for the Death Star. I recently had the chance to visit Skywalker Ranch and Lucasfilm HQ where we interviewed the cast and director of Rogue One! Make sure to check out everything Star Wars on Sippy Cup Mom!

I love home made ornaments, even better when they are easy.
