Summer is wrapping up and my hair is certainly showing the wear and tear of not only the hot summer days, but frequent family trips to the pool! It’s been fun, but my hair feels fried and very dry. After doing much research on what products did a good job of hydrating abused, crispy locks, one of my good friends told me her secret to a big head of luscious hair. The best part is that it’s inexpensive, two ingredients and takes just a minute to whip up!
You will need:
- Half of a Medium Avocado
- 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
I mixed to the consistency of guacamole and applied to damp hair. I left it on for about 20 minutes and rinsed with cool water. The results were amazing! My hair was soft and shiny. I only applied half way down my hair to the ends-where I needed it most! Once you’re all done, check out this hair styling brush!
I really like that I didn’t have to purchase an expensive product. And I do love when I can use ingredients that I can pronounce that do just as good of job as chemical ridden blends!
I’ve cleaned with baking soda and vinegar… what other great DIY home recipes do you have that can take the place of store-bought products?

That’s neat, and so smart to just put it where it was most needed!

This is such an awesome idea! I used to have an avocado tree in my backyard and the dogs LOVED eating them when they fell into the yard. Their coats were so nice and shiny! I need to try making this, though we no longer have the tree. LOL I will have to buy them!

Haha – I’d rather eat it 🙂 I’m not sure I’d want to put olive oil in my hair…is it difficult to wash out?

My hair is so long and thick. Living in the desert just does horrible things to it during the summer! This would be an awesome and WAY less expensive way to help it be ‘happy hair’ again! I’m totally trying it.

I’ve never tried a hair mask, either… and I have to admit, it would be tough to not just sit down and enjoy that bowl of guac! But I will definitely have to try this – I love that it’s all natural and you don’t have to keep a bunch of products around!

I have read up on some information and found that a lot of all natural sisterlock hair products/recipes contain the similar ingredients as this recipe does. And it very difficult not to eat the ingredients for this mask 🙂

great idea – my hair needs some serious attention! the only thing i have made out of the kitchen as far as beauty products is back in the day when we would use egg whites as facials and peel them off when they dried. it was good for oily skin.
