- I started making hair things for my little girl a few years ago. Now we have quite a stock of various hair pins, clips and headbands. If we throw them in a bin or drawer suddenly they become a virtually unusable mess! But if you have some ribbon, velcro and a hot glue gun, you can make your own hair clip and headband organizer!
First, decide how long you would like it. I cut my 3/4″ wide ribbon at 20″. Fold one end of the ribbon over an 1″ from the end and hot glue.
Cut a little over 2″ of a 3/8″ ribbon over the seam to hot glue.
Lay the ribbon flat with the front side up. Take the unfinished end of the ribbon and finish end by gluing 3/8″ ribbon around the edge.
Fold the ribbon up at 1″. Attach velcro to both sides of the ribbon. This should create a loop.
Cut 2″ sections of ribbon-I cut 3. Finish the ends with the thinner 3/8″ ribbon. Glue the velcro to both sides creating a loop when attached. Glue this directly above the loop before as shown.
You can add a painted wooden letter at the top for decoration, or even just tie it with a bow so you can hang it easily!
It used to be so frustrating to find something that matched my little girl’s outfit when we were on our way out the door-usually a few minutes late! Now we have everything displayed easily! Clips and hairpins on top and head wraps and headbands on the bottom. It’s actually fun now!
