Do you have one of those decorative Easter egg trees? I wanted one, but decided that getting some bendable branches from Michaels and sticking them in a a foam block in an old pot was a better idea. Now I just need the eggs to hang on it! Using Glue Dots®, I came up with a hodgepodge style egg with buttons and a ribbon and trim bedecked egg. Not a bad start for my little tree, right?
Here is what you need for the Hodgepodge Button Egg:
- Blown out egg, cleaned and dried. If you’ve never done this, Martha Stewart has a great tutorial.
- Glue Dots® Mini Dots
- Tiny buttons
- Embroidery Thread
- A large safety pin, unbent and a small piece of tape
Cut desired length of embroidery thread. Fold in half and tape the end that is folded to the end of the unbent paper clip. Push through blown out egg and then secure with a knot at what will be the bottom of the egg.
Add Glue Dots® Mini Dots at various locations around the surface of the egg.
Add your buttons, varying the styles and colors. There you have your fun, almost polka dotted looking Easter Egg!
Here is what you need for the Ribbon & Trim Egg:
- Blown out egg, cleaned and dried. If you’ve never done this, Martha Stewart has a great tutorial.
- Glue Dots® Continuous Glue Lines® Roll
- Ribbon & daisy trim
- Pencil
- Embroidery thread
- Unbent paper clip & small piece of tape.
Cut desired length of embroidery thread. Fold in half and tape the end that is folded to the end of the unbent paper clip. Push through blown out egg and then secure with a knot at what will be the bottom of the egg.
Draw lines from the top hole to the bottom hole on the egg, keeping them as consistent and straight as possible. I was glad I had my eraser handy!
Run the Glue Dots® Continuous Glue Lines® right on top of the pencil lines.
Add your ribbon to the glue lines. Add additional lines of ribbon, centering them between existing ribbon, if desired. And then you are ready to hang your Easter egg!
