I’m sure that you are just like me. Once you had kids, you put yourself on the back burner. I’m betting you take care of the kids, your partner, your house and even your pet before you finally start to think about taking care of yourself. As Moms, we tend to do this way too often. There’s so many days where taking a shower is last on my list because I’m making sure everyone else is taken care of. I’m hear to tell you that it’s finally time to start taking care of yourself. If you want to make a brighter difference in the world like I do, we need to take care of ourselves! It’s important for not only our physical and mental health, but it’s so important for our kids to see us taking care of ourselves too.
There’s a few things I’m doing to brighten my life and I’d love to hear what you are doing too! I’m always looking for new ways to take care of myself.
Drink more water
I used to be SO good about drinking water. When I was pregnant with my twins years ago, I would drink more than 120 ounces a day and I continued that even after they were born. Now, I bet I’m drinking only 40 ounces of water a day and way too much coffee! Drinking more water makes your skin look better and gives you more energy so I’ve been making myself drink more and more each day!
Exercise
I belong to a gym but I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t like to exercise. Nope. BUT I’ll also be the first to admit that I feel so good after I exercise. It gives me more energy and it’s helping me both physically and mentally. I can’t always get to the gym but I have been starting to take walks with my girls now that the weather is cooling off. That fresh air totally clears my mind and gives me a new perspective!
Journaling
Yes, I’ve got a blog where I share my life but I’ve found that putting pen to paper has been a great way to do something for me – even if it’s just sharing some things I’m thankful for in my life, some positive things that are happening or something that is troubling me. If you don’t have time to write, I highly recommend the One Line a Day journal.
Volunteering/Donating
I’ve always loved volunteering but have found that it’s hard to find the time – you know what I’m talking about! But if you make it a family affair, everyone benefits. I’ve been talking more and more to my son about helping people in need and we have enjoyed volunteering together – most recently collecting money for troops overseas!
Beauty
Oh, mamas. I am the one who throws my hair up in a ponytail and runs out the door with no make-up. There’s so many days that I don’t even wash my face! I’m changing all of that by adding into my routine. It’s just another way I’m putting some brightness into my life!

This is a great post. I love Neutrogena products. I will have to try the Neutrogena Natural products out.
I remember when my wife was a new mom. She put her needs last often, and still does. This sounds like a great product!!
I could use some me time too! I use to have a nice routine for beauty and then things got so busy!
Neutrogena® Naturals sounds like exactly what my skin needs. The heat made my skin so dry and irritated. It is important to remember to take care of yourself.
These look like great products! For so long I’ve put myself last and I’m just starting to prioritize my needs because I’m realizing that without me healthy and well my family would not do well at all.
These are great, my kids are getting a little older now. My youngest is 1, but no longer an infant, so I’m finally stopping to take care of myself ( a little bit) more.
It’s so hard when there seems to be no time, but these are great simple tips. : )
I can be so guilty of neglecting many things on this list. I need to be so much better about my beauty regime. Neutrogena really makes some products I love so I should check out the Brightening line.
I really need to drink more water. I need to carry it around with me so I don’t forget!
I love these Neutrogena products and use them all the time. They are great to use for sensitive skin.
I love Neutrogena products.
Neutrogena products are great! I’d love to try this moisturizer with the SPF in it.
I love Neutrogena products! I also wake up at 4:00 a.m. to exercise so that I can have some time to myself. I am then energized for the day to share with my children.
