May is almost over, but it’s Skin Care Awareness Month!
I am a stickler for good sun care. I have had several moles removed for being pre-cancerous. It’s such a scary thing, but is preventable by taking good care of your skin and protecting it from the sun.
Trust me, I’d love to have a great tan and I used to love laying out or going to tanning beds. Now, I’ll just stick to my Jergen’s Tanning Lotion!
I’m very careful with Hayden too. He is outside all the time and he tans very easily (he’s rocking a farmer’s tan right now), but with my history I make sure to cover him with sunblock.
I also make sure that he wears a t-shirt or UV Swim shirt to protect his sensitive baby skin. While looking for new swim shirts for this summer I came across a site called UV Skinz. I was instantly drawn to Rhonda’s story. She lost her husband when he was only 32 years old to melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer. The experience left her to raise her three young boys alone but also the inspiration to develop the UV Skinz products.
UV Skinz shirts are great because they offer a 50+ UPF Sun Protection, blocking 98% of the sun’s damaging rays. They’re comfortable and they’re cute too!
Matthew McConaughey and his son, who is wearing UV Skinz!
Through June 30th, Rhonda is offering readers a discount of 15% off their purchase! Just enter BLOGS15 at checkout and it will automatically be taken off. You won’t be disappointed with the shirts!
Tomorrow is also “Don’t Fry Day”! To read more about it, check out Skin Care Prevention!
How do you keep your kids safe from the sun? And yourself?
I was thinking about getting my son a few of those shirts – thanks for the discount! I am diligent with sunblock, hats, staying in the shade, etc. We have such fair skin and a history of skin cancer in the family. Scary stuff.
I need to find a good hat for my sun for the summer, when we are in our pool but he is 2 now and has a huge noggin.
Awesome post, and one close to my heart because I've had several moles removed as well. And with the kids, I'm a stickler for covering them up and use sunblock like it's going out of style!
Thanks for spreading the word. We try to swim at non-peak sun hours (usually in the evening) and avoid the sun during the heat of the day. When it's unavoidable, we wear hats and sunscreen. In my part of the country, avoiding the sun is very difficult!
I am the mother of Casper the Friendly Baby, so we are all about the sun protection in our house!
I left you something over on my blog today. =)
It is so important to watch out for our skin these days. My poor mom has had lots of problems because she used to tan way back when. I always put a hat on Little Chick and cover her in sunscreen! Have a great Friday!
