I love pictures. I’m constantly taking pictures with my phone or my camera and my husband is known to groan when at yet another family event I demand that a picture of the whole family be taken. But as much as I love taking pictures and recording memories of my family, I don’t like being IN the pictures. It’s a total self-esteem thing because I just hate the way I look in photos. But by not getting into the picture with my family, I’m not only hurting myself but also hurting my kids. When I’m old and gone, I want them to be able to look back at pictures and see their Mom in them. I want them to be able to recall fun memories and SEE me in the pictures with them.
When going through photos from the last few months, it was hard to find some with me even in one. They all have just my kids or my kids with my husband. I was only able to find a few and I remember thinking, the picture is only for ME, I’m not going to share it with others or anything. But why? They are pictures with my adorable kids, where THEY are happy with their Mom!
What I need is Camera Courage. Not only do I LOVE Dove products, I’m also excited to see what Dove is doing for women across the country. Dove wants all women to feel beautiful in front of the camera. Find your #cameracourage, and fall in love with the camera again. This Saturday, visit a Walmart near you to participate in the Camera Courage Photo Booths! Find a store near you here.
Show off your Camera Courage!
Join the #cameracourage movement. Instagram a photo of yourself and tag the photo with #cameracourage. Share with your friends to spread the #cameracourage message.
My son asked to make a silly face in the picture…usually I would say, no let me take a picture of YOU but I decided to get in on it! No regrets! 😉
While you’re at Walmart this weekend, make sure to check out the Camera Courage Photo Booth AND Dove products at Walmart’s low, everyday prices!
So, moms….will you get #cameracourage with me?

I didn’t regularly have pictures of myself at all, until I started to blog, then I came out of my shell and started taking and posting more of me! Gotta say I love these campaigns that Dove does that show women of all shapes, sizes and colors – true beauty is clearly not a size 2 or being 5’7″ or having perfect skin.

I’m the exact same way! My daughter is 3 now and most of the pictures I have are of her and hardly any with me too! I’ve been a lot better about trying to get someone else to take a few pictures of me and her together for the very same reason you mentioned – I want her to have pictures of us together to look back at!!
Robin (Masshole Mommy) says
I lost a lot of weight and ever since, I have been a little better about having my picture taken. I still prefer to have the kids in the picture with me as distraction, though. I’m still really self conscious.
Janet W. says
My daughter has realized the same thing. She takes all the pictures of my grandsons and it’s so hard to find one with her in it.

I love taking photos. I am an Instagram and photo sharing addict! I love that Dove is helping to empower and encourage confidence in woman. I completely agree with you about taking photos for your children. I think we get caught up in how WE look in them but in the end it is really all for them.

I have heard of Dove doing this with a selfie or something I like the campaign and what a way to bring everyone together
Virginia @thatbaldchick says
What a neat campaign for Dove. I’m usually behind the lens, not in front of it.
Lindsey @ Redhead Baby Mama says
What a happy munchkin. I love what Dove is doing for real beauty.

I’m definitely usually behind the camera though!

You go girl! I am constantly taking pictures of my kids but I often forget to get in them, love, love, love this idea!
Susanna @Zealous Mom says
I love the #cameracourage campaign! Such a wonderful concept. And I totally agree that moms are often the ones not in the pictures because we’re always the one clicking the camera.
Jaime says
I love this. So many moms are guilty of this, me included. I’ve been trying much more lately to get pictures of me AND my boy. He loves the forward-facing camera on my phone, and we often make funny faces for the camera!

I am so loving this idea by Dove, how awesome that they are doing this! I remember how many times I’ve looked at childhood photos of my brother & I and feeling a bit of sadness because my mother is barely in any of them! I don’t want to repeat that cycle so I try my best to get snapshots of the kiddo and I together. By the way, you have such super cute little ones! Adorable!
Liz @ A Nut in a Nutshell says
You’re so sweet and fun. I love that you took the time to take some pics with yourself in them!
Onica Cupido says
What a great project by Dove. I personally love taking photos and being in them but I know many women who are camera shy. Hopefully this will encourage more women to find joy in taking and being in photos
Stefani says
I am really picky about pictures with me in them too. Most of my pictures have my kids and animals. My husband will take photos here and there though that include me.
April says
This is such a great campaign by Dove! I am the family paparazzi, I am NEVER in photos. I suppose I need to get in some.
Joanna Sormunen says
I love taking pics and I love that I’m behind the camera, so no one is taking pictures of me… So I definitely need some #cameracourage. And you are right Dove is great!
Melanie S. says
It’s very unlikely that I’ll be posing for a picture anytime soon, but I do love what Dove does for women. It’s great that they appreciate real people.
Jenn @TheRebelChick says
I love your photos! I love Dove too, of course. We all need to be more open to having our photos taken!
Dawn says
I love how much Dove tries to help the self esteems of women. Their products are great. I especially love their shampoo and conditioner. 🙂 And your pictures are beautiful!
Janel says
I’m so glad you went for it and jumped in the picture with him! That’s my 3 year old’s favorite.thing.ever!! Funny face pictures taken together!! 🙂

What adorable photos of you and your children. I also found that I am too often behind the camera instead of infront of it with my kids.
Piera says
I love this #cameracourage campaign! I struggle with always being behind the lens and I really need to do a better job of being in the picture.
Liza @ Views From the 'Ville says
I love the philosophy of this campaign! I’m feeling like I need a tiny bit more time at the gym before I have a LOT of #cameracourage, though!
