This post is brought to you by Boudreaux’s Butt Paste and The Motherhood. All opinions are my own.
As a mom to three year old twins, I’m always being asked what are some of those must-have products needed when you first have twins. There are several items that need to be on your list that will make that first year easier. I remember spending months doing research on what we should buy and chatting with fellow moms of multiples on what products work and what products don’t. Here are some of my must-have baby products a new mom of twins needs!
Rock’n Play
We had two cribs in their room but of course, we didn’t use them for the first four months. The girls were never on the same schedule at first so I felt like I was constantly feeding them, changing them or holding them. That’s why the Rock ‘n Play is a must for twins – well two of them! They are at an incline so it’s comfortable for babies to sleep in, it rocks at the push of a button and it’s portable. It was easy to move back and forth from my bedroom to the living room.
Twin Z Pillow
I absolutely loved my Boppy when I had my son but after I had the girls, I realized it wasn’t going to work. I nursed the girls until they were 6 months old and supplemented with formula. I highly recommend the Twin Z Pillow, which makes feeding twins so much easier! It’s a HUGE pillow but you can use it to breastfeed or feed the babies with bottles easier. It also is super comfy and gives them a place to snuggle too.
Bottles and Drying Racks
If you plan on bottle feeding your twins, plan on getting lots and lots of bottles. In those frantic first months, you’re not going to want to be constantly washing bottles in between feedings. Plan on stocking up bottles (we used the Joovy Boob) but maybe get a few different kinds. We went though many different kinds until we found what worked for our girls. This Munchkin Drying Rack was a staple on our counter that first year too.
Twin Roo Stroller
The Twin Roo stroller actually allowed me to easily get out and about with my girls when they were younger. My son was in pre-school so I needed to pick him up every day. With this stroller, all I had to do was pop the girls car seats in and go! It was easy to fold up, had plenty of storage and easily fit into a doorway.
Large Diaper Bag
With twins, you need a LARGE diaper bag. The Skip Hop Double Duo Bag is the bag I recommend for all moms of twins. It had a large interior, 16 pockets total and is the only bag designed to fit on the back of a double stroller.
Diapers and Wipes – In Bulk!
While I was still pregnant with the girls, I started stocking up on diapers and wipes. You go through SO many those first few months – at one point we were changing about 25 diapers a day – so it’s smart to stock up and use coupons if you can. I mainly stocked up on newborn and size 1 – I wanted to wait until they were born to see if we really need preemie sizes. We didn’t but if you do, you can always have a family member run out to get them so you have them in the nursery when you come home from the hospital.
Boudreaux’s Butt Paste
I will never forget when my son had his first diaper rash. I honestly panicked and thought I needed to call the pediatrician! I quickly realized that I needed to try a diaper cream and after a lot of trial and error, I finally discovered Boudreaux’s Butt Paste.
Boudreaux’s Butt Paste is now a must in our household and I always recommend it to new moms – or to moms who are desperately looking for a good diaper cream like I was!
Boudreaux’s Butt Paste was developed by a pharmacist and a father of four. It starts healing on contact and has none of those harsh ingredients – it’s paraben-, preservative, and phthalate-free, and contains no artificial fragrances. It’s available in Original Butt Paste (for minor or moderate rash), Maximum Strength (for stubborn rash), and All Natural (for minor or moderate rash but made with natural ingredients and is petrolatum free).
Three years later, Boudreaux’s Butt Paste is still a must for us – you can check out what I pack in our toddler diaper bag!
