*The following love letter to Lost has lots of spoilers if you have not seen the Lost series. If you intend to watch the series, I suggest you not read the letter. Instead, go buy all seasons immediately and watch.
Dear Lost,
I can’t believe I found you over 6 years ago. I wasn’t eagerly anticipating you. In fact, we didn’t start watching you until 4 weeks in. But after that, the attraction was instant.
The storytelling was addictive, the characters were intriguing and the scenery was breathtaking. The mystery of the island kept me coming back week after week.
Before long I was going online and reading spoilers and message boards and visiting fan sites. I would any magazines that featured my beloved Lost. Yes, you turned me into THAT kind of a dork.
Our second year was good together. You introduced us to Desmond, someone I believe is crucial to the show. Benjamin Linus was also introduced, someone that has the ability to make me want to scream and hit him, but also tug at my heartstrings.
You broke my heart our third year together. BROKE MY HEART. How could you kill Charlie like that? And in such a heartbreaking way. I sobbed during that episode and wasn’t sure what to do. Today, every time I see that scene it still brings tears to my eyes. But you blew my mind with the end of the year, with the start of the Flashforwards. And I forgave you for Nikki and Paulo. And Jack’s tattoo story.
Year Four brought one of my favorite episodes titled “The Constant”. You made me love Desmond a little bit more and affirmed my faith that Desmond and Penny were the great love story of the show.
Our fifth year together brought lots of crazy time travel. It was pure science fiction, and I loved it. And we met Jacob. Jacob, who I knew in my heart was good. And I still believe it!
We are now at the end of six years together, and it is providing lots of ups and downs. I want you to know I’ve stayed loyal to you to the end. I never talked trash and defended you to anyone that did. I was a die hard “Lostie”. This year has brought some answers, but of course has raised some questions. We learned a lot about the history of the island. I don’t care what anyone says, but I loved the episode “Across the Sea”. “Ab Aeterno” is an episode that I had to watch twice, because of the amazing acting of Nestor Carbonell.
You killed off many of the original cast, including Sun and Jin. How could you do that? They had just found each other again! And to leave behind a daughter! And Sayid? I know he went a little crazy at the end, but at least he redeemed himself at the end. Thank you for that.
So tonight is it. The End. I just want to thank you. This was an experience that I don’t think I’ll ever come across again.
Love,
Melissa

I'm tempted to write my own letter, but I don't think it would be as great as yours! So I'll just leave that to the experts. It took me then ENTIRE first year to love Lost. I watch everything online, but we are making an exception to watch the finale live tonight! 🙂 Enjoy!

I am still pissed about Sun and Jin. But this post is a beautiful love letter to the show. Although I have not forgotten Jack's tattoo story.
