Neutrogena’s MimicMommy MOVEment

We are having fun in the sun this summer! The last few days have been pretty mild in temperatures, so I have been getting my kids to play outdoors. Today’s activity was boating and playing in the sand. I have very pale skin so I burn very easily. I know what it is liked to be burned and it is no fun at all. Sunscreen is a must in our family if we are going outdoors. I instill the same practices with my children. They know as soon as I am finished with applying my sunscreen, I help apply sunscreen on them. We go through the same routine so we never miss a spot.

I have tried many different sunscreens and have never really found the right fit until I was asked to partner with Neutrogena. I will never go back to spending hours at the store figuring out which sunscreen will work best for my family. Neutrogena goes on easy. It is not greasy or runny. I was finding with other sunscreens I would be sweating profusely. Now that I use Neutrogena I am no longer dripping sweat. It doesn’t even feel like I am covered in sunscreen. It also has a pleasant smell. My children no longer complain about putting on sunscreen.

As I mentioned earlier we are all about routine when putting on sunscreen. I find having a routine ensures that a spot will never be missed. I also believe having them watch me put on sunscreen they will then mimic this lifelong behavior of sun protection. Having sun safe behaviors at a young age will reduce the likelihood of developing skin cancer later in life.

According to a new Neutrogena Survey conducted online by Harris Poll, more than 4 in 5 parents of children under 18 years old say their children do not wear sunscreen on a daily basis – despite over 9 in 10 Americans believing sunscreen is important for protecting a child’s health.

The poll findings provide some of the strongest evidence that parents understand the dangers of unprotected sun exposure, but aren’t acting on it.

· Less than 1 in 5 moms of children under 18 years old (18%) say they apply sunscreen to themselves on a daily basis.
· Nearly one quarter of parents of children under 18 years old (22%) don’t know if a few painful sunburns during childhood can double a person’s odds of getting skin cancer later in life.
