I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas!
I have missed everyone so much and I have especially missed blogging!
Our Christmas was not so good, it started out the day before Heath got REALLY sick with the stomach flu. He was getting sick every 20 minutes and was sick in bed with a fever.
I knew he was really sick when he called off work on Christmas Eve, because that is something he would never do. Hayden and I tried our best to stay away from him and I even camped out on the couch, praying Hayden and I wouldn’t get sick.
I was bummed (and I know Heath was too!) that he wasn’t going to be able to make it to my family’s Christmas Eve celebration. It had snowed earlier in the day but the roads had been cleared so I loaded up my car with about 60 pigs in a blanket, homemade oatmeal raisin cookies and tons of gifts. By this time it was snowing pretty heavily again, but I thought I’d be able to make it.
Luckily, my Mom met me at my house and was going to follow me. Probably only a mile away from my house I was going about 10 MPH and started breaking for a stop sign when my car started sliding. I couldn’t turn the wheel or do anything and the car just turned and of course ran into a telephone pole.
Right after that the driver behind me slammed into our car, t-boning it.
I had never gotten into an accident before so I was terrified and the first thing I did was turn around to look at Hayden and I just remember seeing his eyes full of tears and his lip out. I was so so sad for him.
I was so upset and crying which I know did not help Hayden any. I’m so grateful my Mom was following us (well she had been trying until that guy had cut her off!) and I got Hayden out of his car seat to give to her. As soon as I got him out of his car seat he started throwing up and screaming and only wanted to be with me.
I tried calling the police but they were so busy they said if there were no serious injuries to just exchange information with the other driver which I did.
My Mom had gotten Hayden in his car seat and he had fallen asleep and my neck and back were hurting really bad so I decided to go to the ER to get us both checked out. Luckily, the ER is only about 5 minutes away but it sure was scary driving.
They saw Hayden right away and determined that he was fine, he just had some bruises on his arm, cheek and would probably have some on his chest from the car seat’s chest strap.
Then I got to get checked out, woo! After a CT Scan, X-Rays and a 6 hour wait they diagnosed me with Whiplash and a Bruised Back and Tailbone. They sent me home at 1am with some medicine and instructions for rest.
Christmas Day was the next day and Hayden of course slept in until about 10am and he needed it! When he woke we opened presents and he loved it! He kept asking for more presents, I think he liked opening them more than what was in them.
We went to Heath’s Mom’s house that afternoon because Heath was feeling better and we had a lot of fun. We spent all afternoon and night there (watched our annual viewing of Christmas Vacation) and ate lots of appetizers (Not good for Nutrisystem, but I did eat a lot of veggies!)
Heath started feeling queasy again and had to be at work at 6am the next day so we headed home. I’m so glad I went to sleep at 10pm that night which is unheard of because at 2am Hayden woke up sick.
Yup, he had caught the stomach flu from Heath. We moved from his room to the living room (THANK YOU hardwood floors!) where he got sick every 20 minutes. I was so sad for him because all he wanted to do was be held while getting sick which meant he was getting sick all over me.
Heath woke up sick and called off work again (another shocker!) and I’m so glad because exactly 12 hours later it hit me! UGH!
I spent the rest of the day and night between bed and the bathroom with a 102 temp.
The next day Heath and Hayden were better but I was STILL sick and had a cough now too. And I couldn’t get my temp to go down. I ended up going to the doctor on Tuesday who told me I had bronchitis and a bacterial infection.
YUCK!
Oh, and while I was at the doctor? You’re not going to believe it! I haven’t even mentioned it on Twitter or Facebook because it’s laughable that all this happened at once.
You ready?
Our basement flooded.
Yup, we had to call good ol’ Roto Rooter to come out and fix it.
Go ahead and laugh. It really is funny that all this happened at once.
So it’s Thursday now (I think? All my days are running together!) and I’m just now starting to feel better.
That’s after I took my Robitussin with Codeine, antibiotics, and 2 Tylenol of course! 😉
I’m hoping I am really feeling good by tomorrow, I need to get together with my family so we can celebrate Christmas! Hayden has a whole ton of gifts to open!
I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas! Thanks for hanging in there with me!

wow, unbelievable. That many things should not happen to one family. So sorry. Glad you and Hayden are safe after the accident. I would have flipped out, I've never been in an accident either. And the guy behind you shouldn't have been that close or going that fast to have hit you in that kind of weather. grrr.
I did have a small chuckle with the basement flooding. it's one thing after another. It's like the icing on the crappy cake of your week.
Much love to you and hugs.

WOW! Um….Merry Christmas? I'm so sorry! That really sucks. My whole family had the flu too, but after hearing the rest of your story, I think you beat me.
Heather says
Oh dear…Insanity, Chaos, and Fatigue oh my! In a very different way I completely understand!
Slow deep breaths, and try to remember that if every Christmas was a homerun out of the park kinda day then the net one wouldn't feel all that special. Maybe a few not so fun holidays helps us really appreciate the smooth and brezy ones? I am guessing trust me!
If you want to feel just a little better you can skip on over and read about our chaos!
Hugs and hears to an uneventful, safe, and happy new year!

Wow I'm glad everyone was ok. I'm terrified to get in a car accident esp being pregnant and then having my other little baby girl in the back!
We caught a stomach flu right around Christmas too. Natalie got it first on Christmas Eve and then I got it the next day. Luckily it wasn't very bad and only lasted about 24 hours.
