Whoa! I just realized that my last pregnancy update was when I was 26 weeks along, which was 6 weeks ago! The Holidays definitely made everything very busy for my family, in addition to me getting yet another sinus infection the week of Christmas! Things are in the home stretch now it seems so I wanted to give an update on where I am with the pregnancy!
How Far Along:
32 weeks, 4 Days! I am measuring about 38 weeks now!
Total Weight Gain:
Up 19 pounds.
How Big Are The Babies?
Our last growth ultrasound was 2 weeks ago and both babies were around 3 pounds, 10 ounces! My doctor said those were great weights for twins! I can hardly believe that I’m carrying about 7 pounds of baby in me! Hayden was only born at 6 pounds, 10 ounces.
Food Cravings:
SWEETS! All day, every day. Before the pregnancy, I was not a sweets person but I can’t get enough of them. Good thing I passed the TWO Glucose Tests I took!
Food Aversions:
Nothing in particular!
Symptoms:
– Heavy Belly: I feel like the babies may have dropped a little because my belly is VERY heavy down low and I have a lot of pelvic pressure.
My hips hurt when I sleep and I feel bad for my husband because I can’t flip from one side to the other without making A LOT of noise. It’s definitely a struggle to get out of bed and to get comfortable.
Ultrasounds:
My last growth ultrasound showed both babies snuggled up next to each other and head down! YAY! This was at 30 weeks. Well, this week I had a quick ultrasound since I was getting an NST done and they couldn’t find the babies heartbeats (I wasn’t panicking though since I could feel them moving up so much!) and I was disapointed to find out that Baby A had flipped to breech while Baby B was still head down.
My doctor and the ultrasound tech said she has until 34 weeks to flip since then twins usually seem to run out of room.
How is Hayden Reacting?
Hayden is VERY excited! We are pretty much finished with their room (another post coming soon on that!) and every morning I find him in there looking at all of their stuff.
This Week, Weβre Talking Aboutβ¦
The biggest concern on my mind lately has been how Hayden will handle the twins coming. He is so excited but I know this is going to rock his world. Since I work from home, he’s been with me his entire life except for 2 hours a day for preschool the last year and a half.
I feel like he’s become even more clingy the past few months too like he knows something is about to change. I plan on making sure he’s involved as much as I can when the twins come and also making sure that we get plenty of Mommy/Son time but I’d love to hear any advice you have.
Appointments:
This week I started visiting my MFM to get NST’s (Non Stress Test) done twice a week. I’ll get those on Mondays and Fridays and see my OB every other Thursday and my MFM on Fridays. Whew, got that?! I constantly am looking at my calendar to make sure I don’t miss an appointment and I feel like I’ll be living at the hospital the next few weeks!
We are down to about 5 weeks left!

What an exciting time! I’m glad everything is going well. I can understand Hayden getting a little clingy, he probably does realize that everything will be different in a few weeks. Sounds like you have a good handle on that though!

I want a text when you go into labor!! (Tell your hubs to add me to the list LOL!) Hayden will be a great big brother. He will have his moments, but I know you will be surprised at how he handles it. We did lots of reading prior to my second being born. Babies don’t eat pizza is a good one, and Dr. Sears has some good ones too!
I’m so excited for you!

So pleased it all seems to be going well. When my twins were born we bought Steph (who was 4) a basic camera from them to her. Gave her something to do and then she could show people the photos. 4 yrs later and she still has it. The “toy” cameras were almost a much and poor quality so we bought a simple canon camera. She chose each of the girls a teddy.

Okay, I will suck up my complaints of back pain, heartburn and general exhaustion with my current pregnancy. You are blessed and amazing for the journey you are on.

Twins are awesome “freaks” of nature..I just love how amazing and naturally awesome twins are. It is just such a cool phenonenom for a baby to be created, but 2,,, even cooler. Do you know if they are fraternal or identical yet? Not sure the timeline on finding out that info.
You look fantastic

Congrats on making it to 32 weeks. Hang in there, I know how tough it can be. Well up to 30 weeks since that is how far I made it with my twins. And lucky you, I measured 40 weeks at 28 weeks.

Melissa, You look gorgeous! And what a lovely dress! I have no doubt you’ll do all you can to help Hayden with the transition. I don’t personally have experience with this, but from what I’ve heard from friends, it helps to make sure the older child is fully involved (which it sounds like you’re already doing) – both before the new babies arrive and after as well. It can take time to adjust, but many kids like being the older sibling and knowing they can help care for the younger one(s).
Best wishes!!
<3 Cheryl

Excited to hear your adventures after they are born and how Hayden will adjust etc. I also start feeling bad thinking of having another one just because my toddler is and has been with me pretty much 24-7, congrats!!! Love your blog!

I’m so excited and happy for you! I enjoy living vicariously though you π You’ve only gained 19 pounds? That’s unreal. I gained much more with just one baby each pregnancy.

I didn’t bring home twins, but my son had me to himself for almost 5 years before his sister arrived. I wasn’t sure of how it would go. Only hiccup was first visit at hospital. He was tired and I think a little freaked seeing me with IVs. Next visit I was up and moving and he seemed much more at ease. After that it was like she was always here and little issues until she started talking and being a pesky little sister π
