You know how people get baby fever? Well, about 5 years ago, I got dog fever! Everywhere we went, we saw puppies and I desperately tried to convince my husband that we needed one too. He did not want to get a dog at all and never really liked dogs. Then, one morning he woke up and said, “Let’s go find a dog”.

We spent a whole Saturday searching shelters in St. Louis and mid-afternoon came across a small yellow Lab who was about 4 months. We instantly loved her but wanted to visit a few more places. We couldn’t get her out of our mind so we hurried back and she was luckily still there. She came home with us that night and Zoey has been with us ever since!

Zoey will always be our first baby but when we brought Hayden home for the first time we made sure to do lots of research to make sure she would be comfortable. Before Hayden was born, we played crying baby sounds. Heath brought home one of Hayden’s blankets before we came home so she could sniff it and see what Hayden smelled like. Since Hayden was born, Zoey has been nothing but his number one protector and best friend.

Zoey is so great because she is always there for us whenever we need her. She seems to have a sense when we need a lick on the hand or a soft cuddle and she is quick to protect Hayden if she thinks something is going to harm him. She’s definitely an important part of our family!

Purina Pro Plan “How is your Dog Great?” Video Contest

Is your dog a pro at catching flying discs? How about your faithful running sidekick? Purina® Pro Plan® is asking passionate pet owners to put their dog’s greatness on display in the “How is Your Dog Great?” video contest.

From now until August 27, 2012, pet owners can upload a short film, less than two minutes in length, to the Pro Plan YouTube channel. Entries should demonstrate moments along their dog’s journey toward greatness that inspire others to discover greatness in their dog.

The grand prize winner who best captures their dog’s greatness will have their winning video featured in a Pro Plan commercial, which will be unveiled at the 2013 Westminster Dog Show, presented by Purina Pro Plan. The winner also receive a year’s supply of Pro Plan brand dog food.
