With only a few weeks left until the twins get here, I’ve been making sure that we have everything ready for them at home. When reading up on must-have items, I cam across aden + anais blankets. I never heard of these when Hayden was a newborn and I wish I had! These are the softest, snuggly and most gorgeous swaddling blankets I have ever came across!
There are so many features to aden + anais blankets that make them stand out from regular swaddling blankets, but mainly it’s the generous size (these measure 47″ x 47″!) and the fact that they are made of lightweight muslin.
Muslin is a finely-woven breathable fabric believed to have originated in Bangladesh during the Middle Ages. It’s delicate, yet durable weave, makes the fabric stretchy, and therefore ideal for swaddling, as the natural give” allows the blanket to be tucked snuggly around a baby without being overly restrictive.
The lightweight muslin also permits air to circulate around the baby’s body, while still providing comfort and warmth without the worry that the baby may overheat in moderate weather. Cotton muslin is also a workhorse fabric, in that wraps woven from this natural fiber stands up to repeated washings only becoming softer — and better — with age.
I had the chance to check out the Princess Posy Swaddles, which is a part of the Cozy Collection. With two little girls on the way, I fell in love with the gorgeous prints.
The great thing about the aden + anasis blankets is that they can be used for so many things besides swaddling! They can be used as a nursing cover, burp cloth, tummy time blanket and a whole bunch of other uses! Even my 5 year old has claimed it for his own when he was sick on the couch – he loves how soft and cuddly it is.
Everyone I’ve talked to about aden + anais blankets tell me they get softer the more times they are washed and sure enough they do! I’ve washed the blankets twice before putting them in the twins diaper bag (we plan on swaddling them in the blankets at the hospital) and they are so soft!
I’m so excited to swaddle the twins when they arrive. I never really got the hang of it with Hayden and I think a lot of it had to do with I was trying with blankets that were too small and too thick. The aden + anais blankets are going to be perfect and their website has a great tutorial on how to swaddle.
I have a feeling I’m going to get pretty addicted to these blankets plus all of the other great items they offer like sleeping bags, bibs and even adult size blankets! I can’t wait to wrap the twins up in these and I’ll be sure to update the post and share lots of pictures with them looking cozy all swaddled up!

this would be great for my niece!
I love swaddlers! My kids loved them!
I swaddled my babies for the first 2 weeks. Then they no longer liked to be swaddled. I was sad. They always slept so well when they were swaddled. I haven’t heard of the Aden-anais blankets before. But they do look very soft!
These look really cozy, and the prints are so cute!
Those are beautiful, and they look so cozy! I wish I was little so I could curl up in one. I need a nap!
I swaddled both of my kids and my younger one especially needed it. I’ve heard SO many great things about aden + anais blankets that I’m sure you’ll love these – can’t wait to see pictures of your new babes all wrapped up in them! 🙂
Ooh I just love the prints on those, gorgeous! Pre-congrats on having twins..how exciting!
These look adorable and comfy. I never swaddled but it does seem like a great idea.
One of my kids loved being swaddled, and one hated it – it reflects their personalities now, too 🙂 Those blankets look so cozy, they would be great for car trips!
Oh these blankets look so nice and cozy! Wish I had known about them when I had my girls!
my sister swears by these. i tried to buy her some blankets for my nephew and she looked and saw they weren’t aden & anais and made me return them and get those.
You can never have too many blankets. At some point they become disposable because of the tendency to get messy.
These blankets look incredibly soft! Perfect for any newborn because it looks so soft and gentle!
