Revitalizing Your Garden Ready For Summer
Most of us are itching for summer to arrive so we can get out into our gardens and yards again. But while you’re waiting for the sun to arrive, why not get some of the garden jobs out of the way? Revitalizing your garden ready for summer can be quite therapeutic and even fun.
Rejuvenate your fences
Many of us have fences surrounding our yards and garden spaces, and after a winter of harsh weather they might be looking a bit shabby. This is an easy one to remedy, with a good clean down, and a new coat of fence paint or wood stain. If stormy weather has left you with any broken or rotten sections, it’s a good idea to fix this garden fencing first though. Prepare the lawn
Your lawn is probably looking at its worst at the moment, and it may be too soon to get your mower out. But that doesn’t mean there’s no preparation work to do here. It’s a good idea to get your mower serviced, so it’s in good working order when you need it the most. It’s also a great time to check over your sprinkler system if you have one.
As for the lawn itself, you can remove weeds and check for bare patches that may need resowing, while you have the time.
Create an outdoor activity zone
If you have energetic kids, having a dedicated space to play, make noise, create mess and generally let off steam, is a great idea. What you include will depend on the age and interests of your children. But you could include large outdoor games, an outdoor play kitchen, large windchimes and homemade musical instruments (things to bang on and make noise with basically).
Tidy out the shed
Sheds don’t just hoard unwanted spiders, but broken tools, things we don’t use anymore, and items we really should have thrown away already (but think may come in handy one day). We’re all guilty of cluttering up our sheds in this manner. Take the time now to have a good sort out. Then come summer, you’ll have space for potting up plants and you’ll be able to find all your gardening tools straight away.
Once you’ve got your yard spruced up and organized, you’ll be able to get straight out and enjoy it the moment that sun comes out again.
