When I was pregnant with Hayden, my husband and I did a ton of research on baby items – from cribs to car seats! But for some reason, we didn’t do much research on a crib mattress. When the time came to purchase one, we walked into a store and picked one of the first crib mattresses we came across. Of course, Hayden never complained about it as a baby but when we used that same mattress in his toddler bed, he would tell us how it wasn’t comfortable.
We care so much about mattresses for ourselves – after all, we spend so much time in bed and it’s so important to get a good night’s sleep – but why didn’t I do the research for a good mattress for my baby?
When we found out that we were having twins, I knew that I was going to use the same car seat brand and even the same crib brand – we had researched those and knew we had the best. I now wanted to make sure that we were getting the best mattresses for them also. I was wanting something that was both safe and comfortable but also that would last since we would be using these crib mattresses to convert to a toddler mattress.
I’ve worked with Serta Mattresses for the last two years now and I can’t imagine sleeping on another mattress brand. My husband and I are getting the best sleep now (well maybe not NOW since we do have newborn twins!) and even my son makes excuses to try and sleep in our bed.
When it came to choosing what mattresses our twin girls would sleep on, I knew it would be a Serta Crib Mattress! The mattress that we chose was the Serta Quiet Nights Crib Mattress – a dual sided crib mattress featuring the original Serta® Exclusive Cool Action™ Gel Memory Foam! Basically, this crib mattress is just like the mattress that my husband and I sleep on! It’s got so many great features and it’s really unlike any crib mattress I’ve came across.
The girls have been sleeping on their new mattresses for naps right now and they look pretty comfortable to me! Check back next week when I share an in-depth review and lots of pictures of the features of the Serta Quiet Nights Crib Mattress!
What features do you look for in a crib mattress?

I wish we had done more research before we bought Bubba’s mattress. The one we got is so loud and crinkly and I don’t think he likes it very much. If he weren’t moving to a twin bed soon, I’d be buying him a Serta crib mattress!

What! They have a gel memory foam mattress for babies! That is awesome! We just got the mattress that came with our crib.

This is really cool. We need to find a new crib mattress at the end of the year!

I so would get a memory foam one for the crib if we had more kids. The one we have was bought for us as a gift, so the gift giver is the one who did all the research.

This is great! I imagine a lot of parents don’t give enough thought to crib mattresses and just assume the are all the same.

We have a Serta crib mattress too and LOVE IT! Your little one looks so tiny and cute on her mattress!

I totally agree! I never thought of it! I guess I just trusted that if they made a matress for a baby it would be well made. oops

I was blessed that I had an aunt that still had a crib mattress from my cousin being born, and honestly I think it was a Serta crib mattress too. They are great mattresses. My kids are way past the crib stage, and it’s always neat to see how far products have come.

We were so lame when it came to the crib mattress and I always regretted it. Good for you for finding a great one.

Nice! That may be nicer than the mattress currently on my bed. No, we just went with what was in the crib section though I think it was Serta. Nothing that fancy though. Lucky baby!

We did a lot of research on crib mattresses and one of our children also has a Serta 🙂

It makes me smile sooooo much knowing you’re using a crib again! Your babies are lucky to be dozing away on a Serta!

I’m definitely going to keep this in mind for my next crib mattresses. My daughter hates hers now that she is a little older and heavier.

I am entering baby giveaways for my sister…yes I am the best aunt-to-be ever! She is at 13 weeks today and I don’t think they have even considered a mattress, much like you didn’t at first. I wonder if that is because parents think it will get wet ad soiled? It seems so important that a mattress would be supportive to,their developing bodies. Can t wait to tell my sister she now has another thing to,ponder about.

I have an old handme down crib mattress, so I will stick with it. But if I had money to buy a new one I would buy one that does not off-gas VOC and chemical smells. Since the one I have is old, it doesn’t have that weird plastic smell. I plan to move the baby to a twin bed very soon. I will spend the money on an item that I will use for more than two years.

We bought my grandsons new mattresses when they were born and they are still going strong about 3 years later. We bought a Serta and it has been such good quality. I like that it isn’t too soft… it has just the right amount of firmness.

Is this a current production item? Or an upcoming release. I tried to Google it to find one to buy, but all I find are your posts.
