I have to admit that after Cars 2, I wasn’t as invested in the Cars franchise. I was hesitant when I heard that a Cars 3 was coming out but I am happy to announce that I had nothing to worry about! I’ve seen Cars 3 twice now and I absolutely loved it. I can’t wait to bring my whole family to see it this weekend (Cars 3 is in theaters June 16th) and I know they will all love it too. I’m excited to share my thoughts with you – and this won’t have any spoilers either!
Blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast racers, the legendary Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) is suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves. To get back in the game, he will need the help of an eager young race technician, Cruz Ramirez (voice of Cristela Alonzo), with her own plan to win, plus inspiration from the late Fabulous Hudson Hornet and a few unexpected turns. Proving that #95 isn’t through yet will test the heart of a champion on Piston Cup Racing’s biggest stage!
Beloved Characters and New Friends
The whole gang is back for Cars 3! You’ll love seeing favorites like Lightning McQueen, Mater and Sally. Even though Doc Hudson is no longer with us, there are many scenes with him in it as McQueen looks back on several memories with his mentor. Plus, you get to meet new characters like Cruz, Smokey and Miss Fritter!
Animation
With every Pixar movie that is released, the animation just gets better and better. The director shared with us that they had a new rendering machine for Cars 3 and I think you can definitely tell. There were several scenes – at the beach and at the Thomasville track – where I thought I was watching a live action movie and some animated cars were just dropped into it.
A Message To Take Home
Every Pixar film has a great message that will resonate with parents and bring tears to their eyes while also teaching a valuable lesson to kids. Cars 3 doesn’t disappoint as it had me laughing, cheering and tearing up a bit. It teaches a message to kids to follow you your dreams, that something ending can really be a new beginning and the importance of relationships.
I loved that right alongside Lightning McQueen was a new character – Cruz Ramirez! Yes, she’s a racer that is a girl and my girls noticed that right away without even seeing the movie. They have spent the last 2 days playing with Cruz toys and racing around the house which is so cool. They are going to grow up not even thinking that racing is a “boy’s sport” thanks to characters like Cruz!
Cars 3 in Theaters June 16th
Cars 3 races into theaters THIS Friday, June 16th! You’ll want to bring the whole family because I know that kids – and adults – of all ages will love it.
Thank you so much to Disney and Pixar for bringing me to Anaheim for this fun event!
