If you have ever spent a hot summer day at a theme park or zoo and walked by a misting fan or misting area and thought, “oh, that feels so good!”, the New Air AF-520B misting fan might be for you! I am pregnant with an August baby, and home with a very active toddler and preschooler, so I was really excited for the opportunity to review this new misting fan by New Air as the weather heats up and my kids insist on playing outside for hours.
Summer is almost here and I’m sure you’re going to be looking for the best outdoor misting fans for your backyard! The New Air misting fan (model AF-520B) was shipped to me very quickly in a medium-sized box. It arrives in several pieces, but is pretty easy to assemble (only a Phillips screwdriver is required.) It took us less than 20 minutes to get it together and running (estimated assembly time in the instruction manual is 15 minutes.) You will need a standard sized garden hose for the misting feature to work.
The New Air misting fan reaches 18 inches tall and can be easily adjusted to a lower height. It covers 500 square feet with the fan and mist. It has a sturdy base and so far seems extremely durable, which is really important for most people with young kids who tend to break things. My kids were able to touch the buttons and adjust the settings and play and run around it, it never wobbled and held up well. You attach a hose to the fan to make it mist, then the mist comes out from three nozzles on the front of the fan. Even though the misting fan is durable and sturdy, it weighs only 20 pounds, so I will be able to easily move it from our garage to outdoors throughout my pregnancy and it’s not too heavy to transport for family barbecues or fun outside events through the summer.
One of the things I really like about the misting fan is that it has a lot of options for settings. It has 3 speeds for the fan (low, medium, or high), and an option to allow it to oscillate back and forth or to stay stationary blowing in one direction. The buttons are extremely easy to push (my two year old could do it). The fan is for outdoor use only, but it can be used as just a fan or the fan with misting. It has a valve or switch where it connects to the hose to allow you to control how much water mists. I also really like that you can adjust the angle of the fan and tilt it up, or down, or straight ahead to control the direction of most of the mist. Since both of my kids were shorter than the fan and had a blast running around it as if it was a sprinkler, I tilted the fan and mist downward so it misted them around their faces as they played, which they thought was really fun.
The only thing I wish New Air had done differently with their misting fan is to include a remote control for it, especially since it works for as much as 500 feet. Despite the lack of a remote, this misting fan is definitely going to make our summer a lot more comfortable as we spend a lot of time outside for barbecues and fun with friends watching our kids play. I highly recommend the New Air misting fan model AF-520B for anyone who spends a lot of time outside in hot weather. With Father’s Day coming soon, this may be a great gift idea for the dad or husband who spends a lot of time outside grilling.

I love that your kids had a great time with this, but I think it would work really well for my grandma. We spend so much time outdoors in the summer!

That sounds like a wonderful way to keep cool during the summer. Actually it is pretty warm here most of the year, so this would get a ton of use here.
