I love learning about the latest technology and I definitely love staying connected.
I’m so excited to be teaming up with Verizon Wireless to review their Motorola Xoom.
I’ve had the Motorola Xoom now for a little over a month and it’s been my constant companion. It’s the perfect size to fit in my purse or Hayden’s backpack while on the go. It’s even traveled to San Diego with me for BlogHer 2011!
In fact, I didn’t even bring my laptop with me to BlogHer. I thought long and hard about it and decided that all I need to bring with me was the Xoom. Not only does it have a great battery life (I could browse on the Xoom for 10 hours before needing to recharge it!), but it has a large, 10.1 inch HD screen and it runs on Android 3.1 (Honeycomb) which is an Android platform that is specifically designed for tablets.
Before going to BlogHer, I downloaded some of my favorite apps like the Twitter app, Fruit Ninja and Uno. I’ve been having a lot of fun exploring the Android Marketplace, but that’s another fun post!
When I got to the airport, I discovered that I had a 3 hour flight delay. Luckily, I had my Xoom to keep me company. I found a comfy chair and table and set up my workspace! The Xoom that I have is on 3G, but if you have the Wifi only one, you can connect to a nearby Wifi. But, if you have the 3G plan, not only can you be connected wherever you go, the Xoom also becomes its own hotspot!
After about an hour in, I was missing Hayden and Heath so I opened up the Google Talk App and “called” my husband! Soon, there was my husband and Hayden on the screen! Hayden started singing to me very loudly and I had to scramble for the volume, but lots of people were smiling at me. I thought this was such a cool way to connect and continued to have video chats with Hayden while away at BlogHer. I even got to show them a tour of my hotel room and the view of the water from my balcony!
I carried my Xoom around with me the whole conference and loved that I was able to take pictures and video, in addition to all of my normal internet browsing, catching up with emails and more!
I can’t wait to share more about the Xoom with you as I continue to use it in my daily life! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask!
Disclosure: I am receiving a Motorola Xoom to review as part of my participation in the Verizon Wireless Midwest Moms Program. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
