This week, I had the once in a lifetime experience of walking the blue carpet. That’s right, I said blue carpet! I had the chance to attend the World Premiere of Monsters University in Hollywood at the El Capitan Theater.
I was with my old college pal Lolo from Crazy About My Baybah. Of course, we had on our school colors of royal blue and white and had to stop and take a picture while we got our roar on with some very enthusiastic MU cheerleaders. {Thanks to everyone for the input on which outfit to wear! While I loved the dress, I’m glad I went with jeans because it was so comfortable and perfect for tailgating!}
The event kicked-off with a tailgate party on Hollywood Boulevard, complete with the MU pep squad drum corps and cheerleaders, the Disneyland All-American college band, and an appearance by Mike and Sulley! Also, ESPN College Scareday provided play-by-play commentary on the blue carpet.
I had such a fun time at the tailgating party. There were food tents from local restaurants like Hard Rock Cafe, Baked By Melisa and Subway serving delicious food and fun carnival type games to play – I felt like I was back in college again!
I also had the chance to get my scare on when I took my picture for my official Monsters University ID Badge – and guess what? You can make your own MU badge too!
Of course, there were lots of celebrities attending and I had a great time spotting all of my favorites that are in Monsters University!
This was truly a once in a lifetime experience that I’ll never forget – I feel like I’m still soaking in all of the great memories! Walking into the gorgeous El Capitan to watch Monsters University was amazing. Make sure to check back soon for my review of Monsters University – you’re going to want to see it for sure!
Disclosure: Disney provided an all expenses paid trip to Los Angeles including travel, accommodations and activities. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
That looks like way too much fun! I love that you wore the school colors.

It was SO NICE meeting you, finally. I somehow missed those amazing cupcakes that everyone keeps talking about. I think I was just so mad that I couldn’t tweet 🙁 Such a neat thing to get invited to.
I’m slightly jealous, it looks and sounds like you had a BLAST. I am taking the boys today to see the movie and secretly I may be more excited than them 🙂
Disney kind of goes all out on these movie premiers, looks like a blast. It would have been awesome to meet Billy Crystal or Wayne Brady.
What a trip! I can only imagine how much fun it was.

This looks like more fun than any tailgate I’ve ever been to.
What a fun, fun event. I have to say those cupcakes sound yummilicious!!
I totally want one of those cupcakes and ID’s, lol!!
How fun! I love that this movie is perfectly timed so that those who were kids when Monsters Inc. first came out are themselves heading off to college. Now they can enjoy Mike and Sully’s antics as they themselves are having some University fun.
I am so in love with the idea of it being a tailgating party – how fun! Those cupcakes are just too cute. I’m so glad you were able to go!
