Have you ever gone on vacation and then came back to your clean home wondering what that smell was? There are many times that this has happened to us and I’ve realized that whoops – my house is what smells! Sometimes you can become noseblind and accustomed to what your house smells like. YOU don’t think there is a smell, but your guests sure do! Even though I know I’m noseblind in my house, I am pretty sure what it smells like….our dog and our kids – specifically the diapers of two toddlers.
You know those Febreze commercials where they blindfold strangers and they say how good it smells even though they are surrounded by disgusting stuff? Well, we conducted a mini Febreze #Noseblind test in our house. We had a few family members over for a fun movie night but before we got settled in, I asked them to fill out a survey about how our house smelled – no one was allowed to share their answers with each other.
Then I popped 3 bags of popcorn for us all to enjoy as we watched our movie {The Lego Movie, if you’re wondering}. We settled in…but then I had everyone get out their phones to take one more survey before we enjoyed our snacks and the movie. Then, I lit the Meadows & Rain Candle, sprayed some Febreze into the air and thus the Febreze #Noseblind Test began!
One of my favorite things about Febreze is how fast it starts working. Pretty instantly, we smelled the fresh scent of the Meadows & Rain Febreze. We couldn’t even smell the popcorn scent in the air anymore. After the movie was over, everyone filled out the final survey.
I got them to admit that sure enough my house smelled like our dog. Yup, I had a confirmed case of noseblindness. Because I sure didn’t smell that.
Don’t worry though – we all suffer from some sort of noseblindness. Noseblindess is a nasal condition where you become accustomed to the odors around you over a period of time. That’s all thanks to the the human olfactory system which evolved to help the brain categorize and prioritize different chemical signals from receptors in our nose.
