Well known for being the most romantic city in the world, when you think of Paris, a vacation with children isn’t instantly what springs to mind. But the city of love has so much to offer families of all ages whilst on holiday whether you’re visiting for the culture or just to try somewhere new.
Parc Zoological
Paris Zoo is somewhere you could easily spend the whole day, and it’s set in a lovely park too, so it’s a great family day out that will suit mom and dad. The zoo reopened last year, after the wear and tear of 80 years in business took its toll on the architecture and it’s better than ever after a significant revamp.
The park is divided by region, Madagascar, Patagonia, Guyana, Europe and Sahel-Sudan. The Sahel- Sudan is a huge man made savannah which is home to an impressive 16 giraffes who were some of the only animals to remain in the zoo during its renovation. Children will enjoy walking through the glass tunnel, which takes them as close to Nero the lion as they can possibly get!
A picnic in the Champ de Mars
The Champ de Mars refers to the half a mile of lawn which stretches out before the Eiffel Tower, and is a great spot for a picnic. Eating out in Paris is expensive with children, and even the most budget friendly restaurants can be pricey, so a picnic is the perfect way to save money and still have a great time on Paris breaks. Pop to the nearest store to stock up on local cheese, freshly baked bread and in season fruit for an authentic French experience.
Aquarium de Paris – Cinéaqua
Right in the heart of the Trocadero Gardens, Paris Aquarium is home to over 10, 000 species of fish, invertebrate and over 25 sharks. There are a variety of workshops for children to take part in, even after they have seen everything there is to see inside the aquarium such as ‘la pêche au crabe’ (crab fishing)- a creative workshop for little ones aged 3 and up.
Before you leave Paris, there are also a variety of cultural activities you can take part in which welcome children both individually and in groups. Be sure to check out the Louvre and the Pompidou Center- just two of the many venues in Paris who offer family tours, so parents can soak up the culture whilst the kids have fun!
