It is hard to think of swim lessons in the winter, but in my opinion that is the best time to do it. I always sign my kids up for swim lessons in the summer, but when I got a chance to try out British Swim School I learned the benefits of year-round swimming.
Year-round swim lessons can benefit children for a multitude of reasons. Not only will it benefit children physically, but according to scientific studies at the German Sports College Cologne, kids who swim year-round fared better academically, particularly in problem-solving skills. A swim instructor will teach you the step-by-step procedures to prepare your child for the water as well as provide an explanation of the top five water safety tips that will help save the littlest of lives.
It was amazing to see them progress from being afraid to lying on their backs to floating gently on their backs as the instructor held only their head. I could notice a difference each class we attended.
Lessons learned through the British Swim School:
-The benefits of teaching a child how to flip on their backs in water and the how-to’s
-The most important water safety goals parents should be making for their children
-How swim lessons during the winter months could save your child’s life in the summer
What’s British Swim School?
British Swim School is the pioneer of gentle, non-traditional water safety programs. British Swim School has made it their mission to help prevent tragic water accidents with a two-step curriculum that teaches children and adults of all ages water safety and survival skills first, swimming skill development second.
The instructors were well taught and safety conscious. They provided a kid friendly atmosphere while emphasizing safety. The class sizes are small to offer that individualized attention.
Fishy faces were such a fun part of the class!
The repetition of the class made it easy for my kids to catch on quickly. By the third class, my daughter was already floating on her back. In the last class both of my kids knew exactly what to do. After the safety instruction, my kids looked forward to the fun playtime. Playtime utilized their new skills.
My daughter looked forward to “teaching” water safety skills to the baby during playtime.
When we hit the pools this summer, I will be feeling more confident in myself and the kids.

I remember I had the toughest time learning how to swim, I finally learned when I was about 10 with my grandma. I wish I had some type of lessons or a swim program when I was a kid.
