I love when I see companies giving back to the community and I especially love when I see them helping to send young women and men to college. The Honda Motor Co. is doing just that with the Honda Campus All-Star Challenge.
The HCASC is one of Honda’s largest and longest running philanthropic initiatives in the United States. Since 1989, Honda has awarded more than $6 million dollars in grants to the participating HBCUs.
HCASC alumni have gone on to pursue careers in science, medicine, aeronautics, industry and government. Many are still active in HCASC through campus activities, team training and other volunteer roles. In 2004, a Player Alumni Hall of Fame was established to recognize the contributions of outstanding individuals.
Today, HCASC remains the first and only academic competition of its kind, and its graduates continue to contribute to their alma maters and their communities.
This year, the Morgan State University Bears won $50,000 to bring back to their school!
Forty-eight Historically Black Colleges and Universities competed in the National Championship and received a portion of $328,000 in grants courtesy of American Honda. Congratulations to all the colleges and universities for an outstanding year of academic excellence!
Do you think you have what it takes to win the games? You can try to play the HCASC games yourself!
