In order to qualify for this you need to blog about this week’s topic, and follow the hosts. Comments letting us know you are participating are always great too. If we choose your blog, we will link back to your post the following week.
This week’s topic is :
Oh boy. We are right in the middle of full blown temper tantrums. I think we may have had about 5 today. He is so very dramatic! He drops applesauce on his shirt? He throws his spoon across the kitchen and starts yelling and crying. I try to take that shirt off to change it? Kicking and screaming!
I think of course he is just so emotional so everything just sets him off. At this age that is the only way they can express themselves. {I keep telling myself that….}
The biggest tantrum I have witnessed happened last month. We went and saw Christmas lights and then went to dinner with my Grandpa. In the car on the way to dinner he fell asleep. But I figured he would wake up and eat.
Uh, no.
He screamed being put in a booster seat. He yelled! He cried! He THREW a plate and it shattered. I was so embarrassed. Yup, everyone was looking.
I knew he was tired. But I knew he was hungry. So we went outside and I let him yell and cry at me while I held him tight and talk in very normal tones to him. I explained to him that we were going to eat, etc. It took a little bit but he calmed down and we went in to have a very enjoyable dinner.
Now this isn’t going to happen every time–in fact, it doesn’t.
But it helps MOST of the time.
Hayden just turned three today so I’m hoping the terrible two’s are almost over.
Right?!
1. We ask that you follow all three hosts. That way you can keep up to date on future Toddler Talks.
In public is the worst. Baybah sometimes screams when I try to put him in a car seat, I am worried people think the worst!
I agree. I think the calmer you talk to them in a tantrum situation the better.
So true! I’ve had the tantrums where people probably think I’m doing something really bad!
I only wish his terrible twos would go away at 3.5!!!
Aren’t public temper tantrums the worst? My two year old is very dramatic too…I don’t know, it was my experience that 3 is the new 2, but maybe the second time around it will be better??
Oh yeah… we know those days! lol
@Penny, lol that’s funny! My eldest is 6! and still has tantrums, maybe only once a week, but still.

Oh man – the applesauce drama! I can’t (totally can) wait for that! Happy birthday Hayden! Hope three brings lots of fun, an less drama! 🙂
Very good blog! Do you have any tips and hints for aspiring writers?
I’m planning to start my own site soon but I’m a little
lost on everything. Would you recommend starting with a free
platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many choices out there
that I’m completely overwhelmed .. Any ideas? Many thanks!
