Well, I guess I should have held off on my book posts because today’s Top Two Tuesday is…
Top 2 Favorite Books!
I already told you in my post Books! I Love ‘Em that my 2 favorite books are The Firm by John Grisham and Shogun by James Clavell. So I was torn on what to pick. Do I tell you my top 3 and 4 favorite books? I decided to go with Top 2 Historical Books and really hope that I don’t bore you!
1. John Adams by David McCullough.
So, I love John Adams. Ever since my Mom had me growing up watching the musical 1776 (With Mr. Feeney from Boy Meets World playing John Adams. Fun fact! In Boy Meets World they attended John Adams High!). So when most girl grew up singing, well I don’t even know, I grew up singing songs like “Sit Down John!” and “The Lees of Virginia”. Aren’t I cool?
Anyway, I was so excited when this book came out. It’s a detailed history of our second President’s life. I feel like not many people know what he did. He was the defense attorney for The Boston Massacre. He went to France to help create the Treaty of Paris that ended the American Revolution. He wrote passionate love letters to his wife Abigail Adams, which you can read in My Dearest Friend: Letters of Abigail and John Adams.
So it’s no surprise that I loved the HBO Mini-Series John Adams also. It’s wonderful.
2. 1776 by David McCullough
So I guess this shouldn’t come as a surprise, right? 1776 is another good book to read, especially if you’re interested in the time period, like I am. 1776 is mostly about the military side of the year 1776. David McCullough goes into great detail of what the soldiers did for our country, as well as show the side of the British fighting.
Both of these books gave me so much respect for our founding fathers and what they had to do for our country!
Okay, I hope I didn’t bore you too much!
Head over to The Undomestic Momma and link up to her Top 2 Tuesday if you’re participating!

So appropriate with the 4th of July right around the corner. I will have to borrow them from my dad. He's got them both and is a big fan of Americana reading.

These are so my husband's kind of books. He wrote his undergrad thesis on Alexander Hamilton and the First Bank of the United States. Can you say, snore???? I'm more of a WWII fan myself.
