Last month, I was invited to tour the Rug Doctor Factory, which is right here in St. Louis, Missouri. Since I was a mom to a toddler and 2 pets, I was excited to learn more about the Rug Doctor company and learn about their new Anti Allergen Carpet Cleaner.
There are many brands trying to break into the DIY carpet cleaning machine business, but Rug Doctor remains the most popular, convenient, compact and powerful carpet cleaning machine on the market.
I was eager to learn more about the behind-the-scenes at Rug Doctor. When we first arrived at the Rug Doctor Factory, we had to put on our stylish safety glasses {safety first!} and then we met with Susan Natoli, the Research and Development Laboratory Manager.
Susan explained to us how they develop all of the different rug doctor products, from the Anti Allergen Carpet Cleaner to the Pet Formula Carpet Cleaner. Each formula is tested thoroughly and not released until it has been having consistently good results.
We then got to see the Rug Doctor in action! Take a look at this clean beige carpet. You think the Rug Doctor can get it even cleaner?
Well, wait! That carpet actually isn’t beige! It’s supposed to be WHITE.
Can you believe the difference that the Rug Doctor makes? It’s scary to think that there are carpets out there that look clean, but may not be!
Check out the water after cleaning just a small area on that carpet.
Here are some interesting facts about carpets:
A carpet that appears clean can hide as much as a pound of dirt per square yard.
The carpet in your home could be seven times dirtier than a city street.
2,000 dust mites can live on one ounce of carpet dust.
The five-second rule is a myth: bacateria can live after four weeks on the carpet.
80 percent of the dirt in your house walks in through the door on people’s feet.
Are you thinking you should rent a Rug Doctor yet?
We then got to meet with Jason Hill, the Corporate Engineering Manager who leads the engineering department through product development, cost reduction programs and production support efforts.
Here, we learned about the actual Rug Doctor machines. This very loud space had motors going at full speed so they know how long each Rug Doctor is expected to last. We learned more about how the Rug Doctor uses a vibrating brush instead of a rotating brush. This allows the dirt to break up better and really extract it from the carpet fibers.
Other carpet cleaning machines just don’t hold as much suction so they are not as effective when it comes to cleaning up carpets! In fact, the Rug Doctor is the only consumer machine certified Platinum by the Carpet and Rug Institute.
We then got to take a tour to see the actual Rug Doctors being assembled. Everything is assembled right there in Fenton, Missouri.
Every Rug Doctor machine is carefully inspected by Quality Control before being boxed up. In fact, each machine is checked over visually and then also physically to make sure it’s perfect for consumers.
We got to try the Rug Doctor for ourselves and I have to tell you, I love it! It’s easy to maneuver and I love that you can use it to not only clean your carpets, but also the carpets in your car and your couches! It’s such a versatile tool!
In the above picture, I’m using the Wide Track Rug Doctor, which has the same professional cleaning power and method cleaner but has a wider cleaning path and larger capacity to make cleaning carpets even easier!
Here, Cheryl from Tidy Mom uses the attachable Hand Tool, which is perfect for upholstery, stairs and hard to reach places!
I’m so excited about trying the different Rug Doctor cleaning products!
I’m really interested in trying the new Anti Allergen Carpet Cleaner. This carpet cleaner helps to provide a healthier home environment to allergy sufferers year round! It helps to remove pollen, pet dander and dust mites and uses a unique forumulation to help remove and refresh carpet fibers.
