With summer winding down and back to school time approaching, it’s actually one of my favorite times to travel! Traveling during spring break or in the summer can definitely be a hectic situation, especially when you are traveling with children. It’s usually hot out and busy with crowds, so the fall is my favorite time to travel! I don’t mind taking my children out of school, especially if the trip can be of some educational value.
Traveling With Children
Ever since my husband and I first started dating, we have loved to travel. It can be so much fun to both jump in the car and see where the weekend takes you and also to spend hours upon hours planning out the perfect trip. When we had our son, I was afraid that we wouldn’t be able to travel as often but we decided not to let it stop us. My son has been more places at the age of five than I had been at the age of 18 and I love it! Now that we also have infant twins, it’s been a little bit harder to take a trip, so we have taken it a little bit slower this time.
Learning While Traveling
My husband and I both enjoy visiting places of historical significance and while there, we always make sure to educate my son on what we are visiting. It’s possible to turn a trip into something both fun and educational. Now that he’s headed into grade school, I know that our trips will be even more fun and a better learning experience! I’ve came across great websites with ideas for travel journals for children. I think a travel journal is good not only for the child, but something that they can show their teacher when they get back from their trip.
Planning the Perfect Trip
As a busy work-at-home mom of three, I don’t have the time that I used to have to plan out our family trips. I used to book everything individually from car rentals to hotels to which restaurants we would dine at. If you’re pressed for time like me, there are plenty of package holidays to help save you time and money. That way, everything is packaged together for you and you don’t have to worry about too many details. Often, it will actually be cheaper in the long run than having to book everything individually yourself.
As a Mom, I highly recommend both traveling with your children and also think about doing it during the school-year. You’ll save money, avoid crowds and provide memories and experiences of a lifetime for your child!

I love history and l love visiting places with historical meaning! For us traveling in the school year is a no brained because of the lower cost as well as the lower crowd levels.
