It’s summertime and it seems like we are so busy and on the go. My son is forever telling me that he is hungry and wants more snacks. I’m always looking more a good variety of snacks that are also affordable. One of my favorite brands is Essential Everyday from Shop ‘n Save. I recently was inspired by their Tropical Trail Mix and made my own Tropical Sunshine Mix, omitting a few items to make it more kid-friendly.
Tropical Sunshine Mix
Ingredients
– 1 package of dried pineapple chunks
– 1 package of dried banana chips
– 3/4 cup of Essential Everyday Raisins
– 3/4 cup of Essential Everyday Walnut Halves and Pieces
– 1/2 cup of Essential Everyday Sweetened Coconut Flakes
Directions
– Combine all ingredients in large bowl and mix well.
– Store in air-tight container to snack on all summer!
The Tropical Sunshine Mix was a big hit with my son – and me! We store it in an air-tight container and it makes so much, you can snack on it for the rest of the summer! You can add different types of nuts or dried fruit if you want! The original recipe called for dried mango but my son isn’t a fan. All of the ingredients are available at Shop ‘n Save and this will definitely be a summer essential for us from now on!
You’ll find a wide variety of Essential Everyday products at Shop ‘n Save and you’ll want to check out their website for some more delicious recipes. Shop ‘n Save is the place to go for affordable groceries in Missouri and Illinois!
What’s your favorite summer snack to make?
Disclosure: I received compensation for this post. All thoughts, opinions and love for Shop ‘n Save is my own.
That sounds like a snack that I would love. Actually, I would make a double batch and eat it ALL myself.
That looks great! I tend to make my own trail mix that’s fruit and raisin heavy and with little nuts. The banana chips are a great addition!
This is one of my favorite things to snack on! I made a similar one last year with Chex Mix and pineapple juice drizzled over it. TO DIE FOR!
I love dehydrating my own fruit, but I haven’t made a trail mix like this. I’ll definitely try this for my toddler.
I love trail mix, granola and those kinds of things. I like your creativity using the pail and shovel!!

Mmm, I LOVE trail mix! What a great spin!
What a great idea. I love that you put nuts in it for the added protein. I’m all for snacks like this in the summer and even fresh fruits & veggies.
THis is a great snack for energy! I’m the only one who likes nuts and coconut in my house, so it would be all for me!
As I am getting old I am just now getting into trailmix! I love how u put it in a sandbucket and a shovel to scoop it out…so cute!
That looks delicious. I usually get trail mix from Trader Joe’s, or lately I’ve been mixing sliced almonds with cranberries and snacking on those.
I am so sold on this it is not even funny! The question is, can I always eat it out of a sand pail??
I would eat it ALL. I love trail mix. It might be my kryptonite!
I like the look of it in the sand bucket! 🙂 I think more food should come in pails. 🙂 Looks good and the coconut looks yummy
