I don’t think I have officially done an update on the girls! The past 3 months have been a blur and extremely busy and I can’t believe that they are already 3 months old! Time just seems to be going by so quickly!
We recently had their 3 month checkup and Evie is weighing in at 11.5 pounds and Olivia is weighing in at 10.5 pounds. Even though there is only a pound difference, it seems like Evie is so much bigger! They are both 23.5 inches long.
Looks
When we are out, we always get stopped so people can look at the girls. Twins are fascinating, it seems. Almost everyone asks how we can tell them apart. They are fraternal twins and I honestly don’t think they look anything alike. It’s really hard to believe they are twins.
Olivia looks a lot like her Daddy and brother and her face is round, plus she is smaller than Evie. She has blue eyes and looks like she is getting in some reddish brown hair! She also has very fair skin.
I’m not sure exactly who Evie looks like, but she has very full lips and bright blue eyes. Her hair looks like it’s going to be a lot darker than Olivia’s. Evie also has a darker complexion.
Sleeping
The first month with the girls was HARD. Like, getting 1-2 hours of sleep at night, all of us crying in the middle of the night hard. Then, my husband and I decided we needed to get into a really good routine. I am doing a combination of nursing and bottle feeding, so at night we swaddle both girls, I nurse one while my husband bottle feeds the other and then we switch. When we started this routine, they started sleeping 5 hours straight. Now for the past 2 weeks, they each sleep about 9-10 hours at night. {Knocks on wood furiously that this continues}
Naps are where I struggle. Both love to be awake during the day. I’ve tried putting them down in their crib or bouncer but both love to be held and then they fall asleep. Occasionally, I lay them down on top of my bed and they will fall asleep. I need to figure out naps though but it’s hard to put them down because I usually have to leave in the afternoon to take my son to school and then pick him up 3 hours later.
Eating
I mentioned earlier that I am both nursing and bottle feeding. We have been supplementing bottles since the very beginning and I don’t mind it. With twins, you gotta do what you gotta do.
Evie nurses and then likes to drink about 3-4 ounces of milk. Olivia nurses and then drinks about 2-3 ounces of milk. They both are eating every 3-4 hours.
Personalities
They both are starting to really show their personalities!
Evie at 3 Months
Evie loves to smile and usually wakes up with lots of smiles. She is really cooing a lot and trying to talk to us. She usually is pretty easy going and content to be in her bouncer or swing. She also doesn’t mind tummy time as much and loves to out weight down on her legs when we stand her up. Evie will also reach out and bat at toys in front of her.
Olivia at 3 Months
Olivia also loves to smile, although she is a bit more reserved than her sister. She is always looking around and observing everyone. She loves to be held and snuggled by Mommy and Daddy. She’s not as crazy about tummy time but she loves playing peekaboo and it’s guaranteed to get some smiles from her. She’s always trying to chew on her dress and hands with a lot of drooling, so I’m wondering if some teeth are coming in. Hayden’s first tooth came in at 4 months. Olivia also likes to be in the baby carrier next to me a lot more than Evie.
These girls keep me busy but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I think we are really getting into a groove and I love seeing them grow each day! Hayden is still being such a good big brother! The other day he got home and they were napping in a different room and he was very concerned where they were. He’s also quick to help me get a paci – anything to “stop them crying!”.
Your girls are so adorable! I love that precious age where they start showing their personalities, cooing and giggling! 🙂
Oh My God, they are so darn cute! I would like to request you bring them to me for a few hours so I can get my baby fix! Then, you can nap! Absolutely adorable!
How adorable! I love all the cute baby girl clothes too… there are so many more options than with boy clothes for sure!

They are so adorable and look so happy! I’m glad to hear you figured out their sleep schedule. It sounds like it was really, really rough those first few weeks with such little sleep. Love their smiles and that they each have their own personalities already. So cute!

Oh my goodness! Your girls are so precious. It sounds like you’ve got a pretty good handle on taking care of twins, but I imagine nap time would be a bit challenging with two babies.

They are too cute for words. I love how their personalities are so different at just 3 months. It’s hard to believe that Evie is only a lb bigger, she looks so much more chubby. Kudos to you for doing so well this far! Beautiful little girls.
Awe! I love it! I can’t believe it’s been 3 months already! You are doing such a great job with them. I think naps for second/third kids are tough because you can’t stop your older one’s schedule. I make sure mine has a longer late afternoon nap, but he only has a small nap in the am! They are just so cute!

They are growing so quickly and absolutely adorable. I have twin granddaughters and they’re amazing. No longer babies, they are 10 now but inseparable.
They are perfect and cute as can be. I do see a difference, but still they look extremely close to identical to me. Evie’s face is rounder, that is the only difference. I love this update and how you are already noticing there differences. It must be interesting to compare personalities. And yes twins are just awesome. They are like these phenomenas to me, especially when you see them as adults. I can’t help but approach and say “oh cool you are twins” love that Hayden is a helper and he is enjoying being a big brother.
As soon as I saw those pictures pop up in my email yesterday, I immediately thought that Olivia looks just like Hayden! I think Evie resembles him somewhat, but they definitely look different.

Your girls are so sweet! You will be so glad that you did these updates. I honestly have the hardest time remembering the little things like that if I don’t have them written down! Especially from the first 6 weeks!
