Before Lighting
A wax melt burner remains harmless if it does not have a live flame. Therefore, before lighting your burner, ensure that you have trimmed the wick up to a quarter of an inch. You can use a wick trimmer or a pair of scissors to trim your wick. The aspect is linked to the fact that crooked and long wicks tend to cause uneven burning, dripping, or even flaming that might result in fire accidents.
After lighting
When using candles flames or wax melt burners to melt your wax, ensure that you are in a well-ventilated room. In addition, avoid vents, drafts or air currents that can cause uneven burning or lead to the formation of soot that might affect your respiratory system in the long run. While lighting or rekindling a flame, make a point of using long matches to avoid nearing the source of heat. In addition, you need to keep your loose clothing and hair away from living flames as this is the major cause of fire accidents among lovers of wax melts.
While Burning
After working on your wax, never leave your candle flames unattended. Even if you use the flames after some minutes, it is safe to put them off rather than leave them naked. In addition, never use a candle or any other kind of flame near a substance that can easily catch fire. In other words, keep your furniture, beddings, books, carpets and other flammable items away from your working bench. Keep your wax melt burners from the reach of pets and children. Avoid placing burning candles or burners in a place where pets and children can knock them down.
Usage of Flames
Do not burn your candles down. You can leave a small portion of about half an inch to protect your furniture from burning. If you are using multiple frames and burners, ensure that each flame is about three -inches from each other. If your burner starts flicking rapidly, extinguish the flame and assess the source of the error. In addition, avoid using candle flames at night or in a room where you can easily fall asleep.
Precaution.
When extinguishing a flame, you can use candles snuffers to put it off. However, never use water to extinguish such a flame. Before leaving your working area, ensure that all the flames are off and the wicks are not growing. It would be best to keep checking your burner regularly for any leakages or cracks that might interfere with the flames produced.
