Are you dreaming of a holiday abroad but concerned about hassles? After Covid and its traffic-light systems, cancelled holidays and overseas nightmares, it’s normal to feel apprehensive. But that’s all history now, so why not book that overseas trip you’ve been dreaming about? Here are five practical travel tips to make sure your next travel adventure is as stress-free as it can possibly be.
Pack a capsule wardrobe.
Capsule packing is a great way to go for any trip, whether you’re going to the beach for a fortnight or taking a weekend city break. It helps to simplify packing and save space, and it’s perfect if you’re travelling with only hand luggage. If your plans change for some reason while you’re away, at least you will have packed the essential items. Just pack clothes that you can dress up, dress down or layer. Include plain white T-shirts, a maxi dress that you can wear both day to night, smart comfortable sandals and a light scarf that protects you from the sun during the day but keeps you warm on a cool evening.
Plan and research.
Since Covid, researching your holiday is vital. Be sure to take time to check the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office travel advice for the current restrictions and entry requirements for wherever you’re visiting. If you intend to book a long-haul trip that involves a bit more planning, such as a once-in-a-lifetime trip to the Far East, consider booking with a tour operator who can organise all your flights, hotels, transfers and other significant travel requirements.
Organise your documents.
Even seasoned travellers can suffer from anxiety just before a trip. You might be worried about losing your passport or missing your flight. Why not create a folder on your phone with screenshots of your documents, reservations, etc? If you prefer to carry paper versions of everything, get yourself a travel wallet. You will find this extremely helpful as you will be able to keep all your documents together in one place. If you want something a bit more techy, there are some phone apps on which you can upload all documentation ahead of travel.
Treat yourself.
After the past few years, everyone deserves to relax in a little luxury and give themselves a treat. This may mean a deluxe stay at a five-star resort, with dreamy days spent lazing by the beach or poolside. You may want your own suite with butler service, and gourmet dining. For you, it may be spa treatments and wellness sessions so that you really disconnect and ease away those stress-related aches and pains. And don’t forget to discretely pack those male sex toys for your significant other.
Install a meditation app on your phone.
You could download a well-being app on your phone to help keep anxiety at bay. The beauty of this is that it’s always available should you find yourself with a few quiet moments to yourself. This could be mid-flight, in a taxi or lounging by the pool while your butler service prepares your gourmet lunch.
