My son went back to school last week and he is still adjusting going from half-day Kindergarten to full-day first grade – I’m still adjusting too and I know his sisters miss him! He just finished his first full week, so I decided to have a fun, silly party to celebrate! Hayden is the silliest person I know, so I knew he would appreciate this celebration.
Hayden just watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for the first time – and he loved it! I knew that he would love Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, so I planned that to be our Friday night family movie. What else do we need for such a fun night? Well, silly snacks of course!
I love making cupcakes, so I knew that I would have to make some fun, bright cupcakes and Wonkafy them somehow! I’ve read a lot about “Pinata Cupcakes” so what better to fill cupcakes with than Wonka candy? From Nerds to Gobstoppers and Spree, all of my favorite candy is from Wonka candy! These cupcakes are pretty easy to make too and will have your kids laughing!
Wonkafy Your Cupcakes
Cake Journal has a great tutorial and video on how to make Pinata Cupcakes – or as I’ll call them Wonka cupcakes! All you have to do is cut out the core of your cupcake, add Wonka candy and then place the cake back on top. Put icing on as normal and then serve to your kids! We had fun decorating the top of the cupcakes with Wonka candy like Nerds and Gobstoppers. The surprise inside that spilled out were Chewy Spree!
Wonka Peel-A-Pop Dessert
This may be the silliest dessert yet, though! WONKA Peel-a-Pops are dessert pops that look and feel like a banana but in true WONKA form, you can actually eat the peel! My son was totally tricked – he had no idea this was ice cream at first!
Just a minute after opening the frozen creation, the peel becomes deliciously chewy as it peels back to reveal a creamy vanilla center. There’s two scrumdiddlyumptious flavors to choose from – Vanilla Banana and Vanilla Grape! At 70 calories per pop, this is a guilt-free summer treat for kids and the kids in all of us!
How fun are these desserts?!
When you’re in the mood for something silly, all you need to do is Wonkafy a recipe! What recipe will you Wonkafy?
