Well, I totally skipped over a 5 month update for Olivia and Evelyn! The last update was for when they were 4 months and wow, have they grown the past 2 months! They actually will be 7 months today so I’ll share what’s been happening the last month! It actually seems the older they are getting, the busier I am because they always want to be interacted with. I kind of can’t wait until the days where they will interact more with each other! Built-in best friend, right?!
In the 4 month update, I talked a lot about the lack of sleep we were all getting. I wrote about it earlier this week in the post Why I Let My Twins Cry It Out. Holy controversy, Batman! Now, I know that it’s a touchy subject with parents but it worked for us! Over on my Facebook page, it seemed that people weren’t reading my post but just assuming that I let these 2 gorgeous babies just cry all night. No way, no how! We did a modified CIO where we reassured them and it took two nights I’m not sure how much damage that did to them those two night, but now they love going to bed and they are getting a good, DEEP sleep and are happier during the day. Not to mention, Mama is happy too which I think makes everyone in the house happy! 🙂
So what else is going on?
TEETH
Both girls got their first tooth within a week of each other and oh my goodness, it’s adorable. I haven’t been able to get a good picture of it but I assure you it’s there. We were apple picking when Olivia’s broke through and at the store when Evie’s broke through so of course we had wonderful public breakdowns.
SOLIDS
The girls are really enjoying their foray into solid foods. I’m making my own in bulk and we have had great success with everything so far! They have tried peas, green beans, squash, carrots, bananas, applesauce and avocado. Applesauce and squash have been the big hits so far! I’m trying to figure out what to do next….any ideas?
SITTING and CRAWLING {almost}
Evie is an old pro at sitting! She loves it and hates to be on her back or belly now – she wants to be sitting ALL THE TIME. Olivia is getting there, she will sit for about 2-3 minutes before falling over. Unlike Evie, she would much rather be on her belly ALL THE TIME. I feel like she is so so close to crawling, she rolls all over the house!
NAPS
I mentioned earlier how we did CIO for nighttime and I just don’t know what to do about naps. Evie will sleep in her swing and get a few hours in but Olivia will only sleep if I hold her. And even then, it’s about 30 minutes. Evie is going to be over the weight limit soon so I need to figure out naps STAT!
HELMET
We knew that Olivia has had a flat head for awhile and we would change the position of her head while she slept Then she started flipping and became a belly sleeper not to mention all of the tummy time she got, so I thought it would get better. Wah Wah. Nope. We saw a pediatric plastic surgeon who recommended we go through with the helmet. Then, we visited a lab where they made a mold of her head {now that was fun! I should have gotten pictures!} and the PINK helmet should be here in about a week. We are hoping she will only have to wear it for about 3 months and 22 hours a day.
BAPTISIM
This coming Sunday is Evie and Olivia’s baptism! I bought some gorgeous handmade dresses and headbands from Etsy and can’t wait to share with you some gorgeous photos of the special event.
The girls really are doing so good! So smiley and starting to become a lot more talkative! They love all of their toys {and some of Hayden’s toys too!}. We are so blessed to have these girls in our life!
Here’s what you’ve really been waiting for…..pictures!

Tooo cute!!! We did a version of cry it out too and it worked. Yes everything is a controversy lol. Meanwhile we are doing the same with foods we are making it/giving table foods. At first Lee ate everything now he kind of knows what he wants.. Yesterday he crawled his way over to the cabinet and got out the animal crackers. But at about six months, sweet potatoes were a big hit and I know it is leaving season but if you still get a chance melons especially watermelon.
Sippy Cup Mom says
Sweet potatoes! I need to try making those. Also the watermelon….do you just puree them?

I love hearing these updates about your twins. I recommend CIO for naps too. It’s the only day my daughter would learn to sleep in her crib (she “needed” the rocking motion of the swing and like you’re DD was quickly outgrowing it) .
Sippy Cup Mom says
I think I’m going to have to try it for naps. I know they are tired but they refuse!
MIZ says
OMGOSH they are so so so cute.
SO CUTE.
I was a solo mom for a while and ended up doing CIO by default.
Brutal for a week then done! 🙂

Awe, they are the cutest babies ever!
Sippy Cup Mom says
Thank you, you’re so sweet!
Shop with Me Mama says
Oh my goodness they are sooooooooo cute!!!!!
Charli Dooley says
Wow! Those photos of your girls are fantastic. They’re so adorable! My almost 6 month old is also only sitting for about a minute or so. I almost feel like he’s going to crawl before sitting. He does the commando crawl almost!
Sippy Cup Mom says
Aw, thanks! I totally think Olivia will crawl before she masters sitting!
LeeAnn says
It sounds like everything is going great (well, maybe not the nap part) and I’m glad you’re getting more sleep. They’re adorable!
Liz @ A Nut in a Nutshell says
Too bad naptime isn’t going as smoothly as bedtime, but if I had to choose just one…. nighttime would win! They’re so darn cute, girlie!
Sarah L says
Such cuties! Sleeping thru the night is great. May naps come next.
Terra Heck says
Your kiddos are darling. Love that last picture. Can’t wait to see the baptism photos. Glad to hear the girls are doing well.
Joy says
Your kids are adorable and look so happy! Those babies are getting big so fast. 🙂
Whitney @ It's Gravy, Baby! says
Oh my goodness, they are just so adorable. I’m not a fan of the CIO method, but I think there is a huge difference in letting your kid scream for hours and letting them cry while also reassuring them that you are near. Sometimes, mama has to have a break! I hope the helmet helps Olivia and she won’t need any other treatment.
Jessica @FoundtheMarbles says
They are so cute. That photo where they are looking at each other is absolutely priceless.
Rebecca Parsons says
These may be some of the cutest little babies I have seen. I recommend on the veggies is to mix one of the ones they really like with one of the ones they don’t seem to care for as much.
